Sitting at home with Gene and just watched Reservoir Dogs followed by Pulp Fiction a 90's cult classic. Cant believe Ive only just seen these films and they are already over 20 years old ! Quickly got into the style of filming and the flash back formats. I enjoyed them but neither worthy of repeated viewing for me.
Were any other members late getting into cult classics ? The more you look into your viewing history the more gaps you find!

Not a fan at all Alex, I can't stand Tarantino or his films! 'Pulp Fiction' was very much of its time & somehow seems really dated now. I think his films are over hyped & superficial & as a person he comes across as obnoxious. I must confess that I can live without most films made in the last 30 years ( and most tv & music! ), born too late like many others on this forum I expect!

I can remember watching The Italian Job, Get Carter, and The Long Good Friday back in the late 70's / early 80's on TV but feeling quite blasé about them. But roll forward to about 10 years ago, I was working at Centre Point and used to go into HMV of a lunchtime. That was the time that they started knocking CDs and DVDs out at ridiculously low prices and I started on a nostalgia run of buying CDs and DVDs.
Consequently I picked up some of those cults films and have now watched them over and over - especially The Italian Job.

Alex I dont think you're alone Alex. There's so much out there in the way of tv,film and music that i think many people will be in the same boat. I did see Pulp Fiction when it came out which i liked at the time but i've never seen Reservoir Dogs and many other popular films from that era. Its nice in this day and age to be able to find out about a film or tv series on 4:3 and watch it when there's nothing on mainstream tv.

Alex I enjoyed watching them with you Bols but agree not worthy of repeated screenings. Both had hilarious dialogue but I found them very disjointed. There are far better cult classics as far as I'm concerned, such as Get Carter, Villain, Robbery etc... Good thread though. Gene.

I saw Pulp Fiction when it came out in 1994. Because it was so different from all the other films around I liked it though if it is on tv now I tend to just watch the scenes I like and wander off to get a cuppa or do something else inbetween. One cult classic that I have only seen a few years ago is 'The Godfather' and its various parts. I loved it. The 1970s films were too early for me to have watched but in the last few years I have caught up with The French Connection, Get Carter, Italian Job and lots of others. The Godfather started me going back to watch Al Pacino movies. I tend to pick an actor and watch a lot of their older films for a while though I'd missed Scarface and Goodfellas which were later. I used to skip the 'violent' film genre but I like them now. I can watch the shooting films much easier than the scary horror ghost genre. I like to be able to see the baddies. Then I watched a lot of Robert de Niro films. I quite like Robert de Niro and Al Pacino in their younger years and their films were brilliant.

For me the impulse to watch some classics comes from 'one liners' you here that you just cant place. I think it makes you feel out of the loop a bit.
