I'd rather have something like a Hillman Imp Now you're talking. In the 70s, my uncle used to rally one, scared the out of me.

My wife's dad had a Renault 14, a metallic brown, I drove it a couple of times and wasn't impressed with it. Don't know exactly why but I just don't like French cars. The only old French cars you do occasionally see are Citroen s, the odd 2CV and the even more occasional DS19. Peugeot s, Renaults and Simcas have totally disappeared. To me, Sam's description of dull, shopping trolley cars sums them up. Somehow, even basic British stuff like Mark 1 Escorts, 1100s, Vivas etc still had a bit of charisma and style. On a slight tangent, I was filling up this morning and a new Rolls pulled in, it was a two door coupe type and it was all Matt black, no chrome at all, black wheels too. I thought it was just about the ugliest, most sinister looking car I've ever seen, it was horrible, and must cost what? £100000 plus? I'd rather have something like a Hillman Imp The problem with driving a car around with a name like Imp' it's gonna sound to much like Gimp' Not cool!

Yes DC, I remember the Chrysler 180, it looked vaguely like an enlarged Hunter. It was a replacement for the big Humber Hawk/Snipe, which had been axed in 1967. In the interim, Chrysler had half heartedly imported some of the Australian built Valiants, which were variations in the American Dodge Dart/Plymouth Valiant (the red car driven by Dennis Weaver in the 1971 film Duel)
These weren't big sellers, but neither was the 180.

Yet another forgotten motor that has just sprung to mind, the Volvo 480! I remember these first appearing and thinking just how staid they looked considering that they were a coupe of sorts yet there were obviously people out there that thought otherwise. Once again, looking on How Many Left it appears that there are almost 200 left on the roads but I suppose they didn't have the ability to rot like some cars did. Sam.

I've seen a few of those around the London area.

The Chrysler 180 looked very much like a large Hillman Avenger.
I recall seeing them about but not that many in comparison to the Avenger.
Sam.

After Chrysler were sold to Peugeot in 79, they were rebadged as Talbots, but this didn't last very long. The Talbot Horizon was another crappy, Peugeot based car which has disappeared. Their engines were very rattly and noisy.
The smaller Sunbeam was better, it was rear driven and Avenger based.
