I Just read that Johnny Briggs has passed away after a long illness. Remembered from Corrie of course but I remember him playing a Window cleaner in an episode of On the Buses.
RIP Johnny

He was good as Mike Baldwin, in the days when Corrie was watchable. He had quite a long career, mostly small parts, before this, going back to the 40s.
I saw him once, in a pub in Manchester, the White Lion on Liverpool Road, seemed a decent bloke, he was chatting to the barman. RIP Johnny.

Johnny also appeared in Crossroads (prior to Coronation St) - here in 1978. I remember seeing him on Tiswas, around 1980 and he was such a sport.
RIP Johnny.

He often seemed to appear in small or uncredited roles in films before playing Mike Baldwin for so long in Corrie. I remember him as a pirate in The Devil-Ship Pirates (1964) RIP Johnny Briggs

I remember him as a pirate in The Devil-Ship Pirates (1964) RIP Johnny Briggs I felt sorry for him at times - as each time he appeared on screen (or in the street) - most people went - "It's Mike Baldwin". I suppose the same could be said for Paul Henry (Benny in Crossroads). Both being great actors, and have done quite a bit of other work.
Johnny would have been great in the Sweeney - or even Minder.

RIP Johnny Briggs, only watched him the other day after viewing The Persauders episode (on my DVD set) "Someone like me" when he had a brief part as Brett Sinclair's mechanic. Had a regular role for a while in 60's Police series "No Hiding Place" as DS Russell and many other supporting parts according to IMDB.
