Anyone been enjoying the new series of Salvage Hunters: Classic Cars?
Paul Cowland and Drew Pritchard did a Mk II Cortina GT and a Saab 96 in last night's episode. Lots of men in sheds stuff to go along with the cars.
A thoroughly enjoyable hour of television.

Although I haven't watched last night's I have watched all the others from all the series so far.
I don't mind the program but there are times when I think that the quality of the finished article leaves a bit to be desired. The Citroen DS being the case in point for me. Body lines and gaps were way out and one of the rear doors was a noticeable shade of colour difference. This was up for £25k on eBay but looks like it has now been withdrawn.
Some of the ideas that DP has are also questionable as demonstrated with the decals on the MGA but overall it is not too bad a show and certainly preferable to the last few series of Wheeler Dealers.

I enjoy this programme, as Sam says better than Wheeler Dealers which I think is way past it’s best.
The most recent episode had Drew and Paul buy a Ford Fiesta Supersport to restore, when finished it sold for £24k which is ridiculous money for a 1982 Fiesta.
Drew and Paul do a live Instagram broadcast an hour before the show which is good fun, it’s just lots of banter about cars and they take live questions. This week they mentioned the “Ford tax”, which is typically 100% to 200% on classic Fords, in other words the real price of the car should be one-third to a half of what they are selling for currently, the Fiesta at £24k proves this point, in my mind it’s an £8k motor. It will be interesting to see what classic Ford values do over the next few years.

Does anyone else watch this? The latest season (6) aired yesterday on Quest and featured a Series 1 Lotus Esprit. A familiar format, they look for a cheap car in need of attention and they carry out the restoration and then sell it. Drew Pritchard is however, a lot less annoying than Mike Brewer and Tim Shaw.
Well worth a watch as there's nothing new car wise on TV and I think the latest Grand Tour (carnage a trois) was poor.

I've caught the odd episode Stevie. It is pretty good and yes far less annoying than Mr Brewer and Tim whatshisname I just watched the last Grand Tour and it was a bit of a cheapy lockdown programme knocked up on the quick. However I did enjoy it but it wasn't of the previous standard set by the GT lads.

Mike Brewer is annoying, yes, but I did used to like Edd Chyna, the bloke who was the mechanic on Wheeler Dealers.

Edd did a great job on the show over the years. Salvage Hunters proves there is life in this format.

You may be pleased to know Cartman, that he has his own You Tube channel and uploads a new episode of "Edd China's Workshop Diaries" every Friday, which has all of the best parts of "Wheeler Dealers", (the repair) and none of the bad bits; Mike Brewer. He even has Paul from the original series of WD to assist him.

I've still to watch the first one of this new series but I hope the quality of finish is better than the Citroen DS from the last series.
The pair of them seem to take it in turns to go off to a tangent with works necessary to the cars which makes me wonder if the words between them are for effect rather than genuine.
Despite that I'm always happy to watch a motoring program where restorations are generally the aim.
Sam.
