Think the theme tune is just just summit else! and on a par with The Sweeney!

I thought it was one of those programmes which was both good and bad. There were some good characters and good acting in it but it sometimes veered into silliness which spoiled it. Furillos ex wife who used to keep turning up at his office was annoying and I never thought the desk sergeant, Esterh aus, was credible somehow. The Sweeney was much better Yes Furillo's wife is just an absolute pain! and in reality you wouldn't put up with rubbish like that off her! But I suppose the program has a typical American style that a lot of soaps have in the states! Which usually more often than not, is over loaded with humour! Lol

I have just found Hill Street Blues on All 4 - all 7 seasons of it! Hearing the opening theme tune took me back nearly 40 years to watching it on our old tv. Each scene has so much going on with so many people in. I don’t think I realised at the time the comedy value of it too. If anyone watched it can your remember when it was on? I seem to think it may have been Friday night - maybe it was something like Rhoda at 9pm, Hill Street at 10pm maybe and then Soap after that? I might have remembered all that completely wrong!! Apparently season 1 of a HSB had awful reviews and it was amazing they even did a season 2... Couldn't remember the actual day I'm afraid, did really like it though. It was definitely shown on a Friday night. I was in my early 20s then and thought the series was so good, it stopped me going to the Bay Horse with my mates to start the weekend off. Without any shadow of a doubt NYPD Blue, The Shield and just about every cop show since would not have been made without it. I watched all Steven Bochco's shows after this; LA Law, NYPD Blue, Doogie Howser MD, Hooperman etc. Hard to believe has passed away. And that theme tune! It was played as the lights went up at 2am in Tiffany's nightclub in Ainsdale. Lots of memories wrapped up in it for me. Dickie

It's an overlooked classic. I recently watched Starsky & Hutch again for the first time since the 90s and I wasn't that impressed. I enjoyed it back in the day on BBC1 but this time around I thought there was a lot of duff episodes and I stopped watching. I'm going to record a few Hill Street Blues and give them a try. I really can't remember too much about this series and don't think I've clapped eyes on one since the 80s Where does the time go. Welcome back BTW Richard

Hopefully you'll enjoy Hill Street Blues again. I've got the first two series on DVD but no more were released after that. I do enjoy Starsky & Hutch I have to say. I actually watched the Ben Stiller/Owen Wilson film the other day. Still makes me laugh! And thank you. I'll try and not go AWOL again. As I've said Gene didn't give up on me. Dickie

Thanks Candy Girl, I will give it a watch I have never seen an episode but I recall it was my dad’s favourite programme back in the 80s. The Saint Thanks - that doesn't make me feel old at all!
