I have just found Hill Street Blues on All 4 - all 7 seasons of it! Hearing the opening theme tune took me back nearly 40 years to watching it on our old tv. Each scene has so much going on with so many people in. I don’t think I realised at the time the comedy value of it too. If anyone watched it can your remember when it was on? I seem to think it may have been Friday night - maybe it was something like Rhoda at 9pm, Hill Street at 10pm maybe and then Soap after that? I might have remembered all that completely wrong!! Apparently season 1 of a HSB had awful reviews and it was amazing they even did a season 2...

I thought it was one of those programmes which was both good and bad. There were some good characters and good acting in it but it sometimes veered into silliness which spoiled it. Furillos ex wife who used to keep turning up at his office was annoying and I never thought the desk sergeant, Esterh aus, was credible somehow.
The Sweeney was much better

Certainly remember it being on but I don't think I ever watched it properly, same with 'St.Elsewhere' also on C4. The C4 logo turns blue in this clip.
Btw, I remember my dad seeing some of 'Animal House' & being disgusted by it I know I taped it, not sure if it was this showing or not.

Thanks Candy Girl, I will give it a watch I have never seen an episode but I recall it was my dad’s favourite programme back in the 80s. The Saint

Used to watch regularly when it was first shown - and really liked it
I feel that it might have been superceded in the intervening years by the likes of Homicide, The Shield, NYPD Blue (which followed HSB), Law & Order and maybe CSI?
Homicide and The Shield are my two favourite US cop shows of all time (and The Wire but that was more than just cops)
