I thought that too Three Litre and also what is shocking, well to me anyway was the thickness of the magazine. It only feels half of what they used to be. I’ll have to dig an early issue out and compare. Maybe it’s thinner paper or something. It was worth it though for this special car. Yes, I'll buy a copy if I see one.

I have ordered mine online. It will take about 2 weeks to get to me but I will sit down with a cuppa and drool over NHK295M.

Got my copy last Saturday. Good article on the Ol' girl. Used to buy Classic Ford a lot a few years ago as it's a good mag but at £5.50 it's priced itself out a bit. Don't mind occasionally if there something good in it like this but can't justify it every month. Still, good write up on our favourite TV car and bravo to Mr S for persevering with it to get it finished. Being in the resto game I know how hard that can be, and costly.

As I've said before it strikes me that the interiors must be one of hardest parts to redo as sourcing new parts must be really hard. At least with the metally bits you could always fashion something yourself or patch it. I'm no restorer mind so you might disagree?

Interiors are hard to find especially in usable condition. Some of the cloth is unavailable too so re trimming a bad set of seats isn't an option in some cases. Could be Beta cloth that's not available or only available in certain colours. I can't see the cloth for the Consul GT being available. I think it's great that the original seats have been kept as they are and luckily they still look great.
As for the metal bits, There are some great fabricators out there that can make a repair panel from scratch (sadly I'm not one of them) so metal work isn't so much of an issue as interiors and trim. Some of the reproduction panels don't fit anyway so have to be messed about with to get right. I really admire people who are good at metal fabrication and welding, it must be very satisfying. Just wish I could do it !

I’ve done welding before Three Litre as in mig welding plates on here and there, not the neatest but certainly strong enough for MOT repairs etc. I do have a small mig welder but I like repairs done so you can’t tell it’s had a section replaced. I’m not sure I’ve got the level of skill required but you are right, maybe I should have a go. Funny enough I have got some repairs that need doing on my VW van so maybe I’ll start with that. The Cortina certainly could do with some metal work to re do some scruffy repairs.
