At least the buildings have survived Steve. Great photo It always strikes me how tidy street scenes were in those days compared to now. What I find interesting about that photo is where it was taken from. If you look, you'll see there is some kind of roof access on the building opposite - Camera PositionGene.

I agree, the old street scenes always seem to be cleaner, even if the buildings were more grubby. With regards to that access, I assume it's to give access to the window on the building next door.

Great pictures Gene and Steve. How boring is the modern picture in comparison to the 1964 photo with its terraced houses and Mark 1 Cortinas? The second photo of the VW dealer has changed less and given a few proper classic VWs could be recreated

A few adverts for the Ford Escort Mexico and RS2000 from long gone Liverpool Ford dealer Blakes, they capture that late '70's car dealer style perfectly.

There was a Vauxhall dealer in Manchester also called Blakes. Wonder if they were connected?

Possibly Carty, were Lookers a big Vauxhall dealers around Manchester as they were active elsewhere in the North West? I know Quick's and Bramall's where the big Ford dealers around Manchester, I think today all the Ford franchises are in the hands of two/three big groups now. Blakes in Liverpool/Merseyside I think merged with Peoples Ford at the end of the '90's who then sadly closed the old Blakes dealerships, IIRC Blakes had a better reputation than Peoples around the time of the merger. Liked those 'Scort advers from the late' 70's the RS is very tempting.

Big heavy, ugly things the 1800/2200, but very strongly made cars with a lot of interior space.
