Another actor I'm sure many of you would know passed away on June 28th and seemed to have a busy career and that was Louis Mahoney. He had a number of recognisable roles in TV initially including Public Eye, Dixon of Dock Green, Jason King, Z cars, Special Branch and both the early and the recent Doctor Who, and a brief part in the Bond film Live and Let Die, Bergerac, The Bill and New Tricks.
Fans of Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads may remember him in the episode "In Harm's Way" when Terry briefly converses with him in the hospital he briefly works at, shortly before wheeling off a wheelchair with a mask on. He was the Doctor in the Fawlty Towers episode "The Germans" when he is chasing the unwell Basil after Basil had returned to the hotel when he wasn't quite ready too! Louis then appeared as another Doctor in the never screened when new, Professionals episode "Klansman" in the hospital scene. I remembered him too as Delbert Wilkins Uncle Jake in The Lenny Henry Show when it was a 1987 comedy drama.
He was 81 so a good innings too.

Yes, indeed Louis was a good character actor and I didn't know the name but certainly recognised the face and could place him in several productions. RIP Louis

Sad news indeed and only just saw him in a recent Special Branch shown on TPTV.
Naturally he's well known for his Fawlty Towers appearance and was a little typecast as another doctor in the infamous Pro's episode Klansmen but he did and was in a lot more than just that!
RIP Louis, thanks for your contribution to film and TV!

Gerry, you mention that he was in Public Eye. I see on IMDb that he appeared in one of the many wiped episodes from the 1960s, so that explains why I don't remember him in the series. RIP Louis Mahoney

RIP Louis, quite a familiar face on tv in the 70's. I saw 'The Rise And Fall Of Idi Amin' recently & he was in that. Strange that two Black actors both of whom were in Doctor Who should die around the same time.
He is mentioned in Kenneth Williams diaries- 'Equity meeting. Louis Mahoney asked me to sign a protest againt the South African regime & I did. Miriam Karlin said surprisedly 'well, I didn't know you supported that!' and I said 'no one with a conscience could not' and spoke of my abhorence for the racist state'.
