Just read about the death of one of Britain's oldest actors, Earl Cameron, aged 102. Born in Bermuda he was one of the first Black actors to appear in British films. He made his debut in the superb Ealing film 'Pool Of London' in 1951 & appeared alongside John Thaw & Dennis Waterman in the 1964 ITV Play Of The Week 'I Can Walk Where I Like Can't I?'.

RIP Earl. He did well considering he must have faced a degree of racism, certainly when he started out.

Interesting to read that article about him, Arthur. It's often fascinating to find out that some people from TV and film are still with us and living to such a great age. 1940s British-American movie star Olivia de Havilland is still going strong at 104! RIP Earl Cameron

Thanks Arthur and very interesting about his career, I remember he had a brief part in the James Bond film, Thunderball made in 1965 and had starred in Doctor Who. RIP Earl Cameron.

RIP Earl. He did well considering he must have faced a degree of racism, certainly when he started out. What's quite sad about the film 'Pool Of London' is that he strikes up a friendship with a White woman & you can see them looking at each other knowing that it can't go any further than that. His pal in the film played by Bonar Colleano, another actor who emigrated from America to star in British films, ends up with her. In contrast to Earl Cameron he died aged 34 in a car crash in Birkenhead of all places, in the car with him was actor Michael Balfour, who got out unscathed, his son Perry Balfour played the youth who holds up the newsagent in 'Loving Arms'.

A very decent innings, but what a great life he's had. RIP Earl.
