I remember The Monkees show being a regular one on Granada/ITV until the mid '80's then it just disappeared. Does anyone remember The Beatles cartoon that used to do the rounds back then too? I seem to remember first seeing the Monkees TV show popping up on BBC1 in the mornings during school holidays; this was after the mid 80s. So maybe the BBC brought the rights?
Weirdly, when working at Central TV in Nottingham - I passed Micky Dolenz in a Corridoor - and never realised who it was; until much later on when I saw him in the canteen stood in a que with everyone else - and Rod Hull and Grotbags (without Emu).
At the time, I wasn't aware that Dolenz was then the head of Childrens Programming at Central TV. So was responsible for a lot of the Central Produced Childrens ITV stuff into the early 1990s. Prior to this he had been employed as a Director at LWT - directing "Metal Mickey"
Didn't realise he moved into directing etc. Was Rod Hull the one who fell off the roof?

I think Dolenz was Directing stuff in the states in the 70s; and he did (I think) Direct a few of the Monkees TV shows too. I never relalised he Directed "Metal Mickey" at LWT.
It was a suprise to find him strolling the coridoors of an ITV Studio on an industrial estate just outside of Nottingham....!

I remember a really rubbish cartoon version of Laurel & Hardy which was often shown in the afternoons on the BBC. Another bad one was The Groovy Ghoulies.

Any of the ancient members remember The Jensen Code from '73?
Quite a good thriller series I seem to recall about some kid going down a mine, I remember a flashing X symbol on a wall.
It does exist as black and white telerecordings on Network DVD.

Didn't know Mickey Dolenz was head of Children's TV at Central learn something new every day. I didn't mind 'Metal Mickey' at the time, be one of those I'd either take or leave if I saw it again now.

I had a look and yes I remember those necklaces being about . Cozy is smoking a fag during this episode, how times have changed. They'll never beat Run DMC's gold chain look from around that time, Del!
Yep I know!

I don't know if this one counts as 'kids TV' as such but Phil Redmond did a un-related Brookside spin-off What Now? in 1985-86 which was fairly similar to Tuckers Luck. Again not sure if it was designed to be a kids/youth programme but certainly seemed to be in that teatime slot and Channel 4 never really had specific kids programming as such either. Sadly this is all the YT I can find for it... might be more out there, it's not on All4 either so probably seems better through rose-tinted than what it was!

Remember seeing RUN DMC interviewed on 'Get Fresh' in 1987, a ITV Saturday morning show with Gaz Top, they arrived by helicopter. Also taking part in the interview was Gilbert the alien voiced by Phil Cornwell. Another presenter on the show was Charlotte Hindle, daughter of actress Madge Hindle who was a familiar face on tv in the 70's & 80's.
