Why on earth did they think that using explosives on a water tank was ever going to put out a fire consuming half the building? The water would just run out through the broken windows and down the outside of the building?

lol I think ya right probably a lot would have gone through the windows! But ya would have thought! Well this was the concept I suppose, that since it was a big tank’ that the initial blast of the water would have quenched a lot of the flames, but surely this would have to have meant that the fire would have to be quite close to the top of the building which meant it would be near the water tank! I suppose it was made worse with the building, being so high and so the ladders were unable to reach that high! Similar to the Grenfell disaster!

Good film. I remember enjoying it when I first saw it years ago. Loads of top classic stars. I might watch It again soon.
There was a spate of 'Disaster' films around the time it came out in the 70s. I think this was the first of them.

I think this was the first of them. Charles Yes,Poisden, Earthquake etc. I think the first one was Airport in 1970, then came the others and Airport 75 about a 747 midair collision.
