Pardon the ignorance but ... different regions of ITV?
I'll do a different thread with other unrelated Advert findings.
ITV:
Up until around 2002, the ITV 'network' was split into regions, each region having it's own TV station, local news, local programmes, adverts, and also they would link up with fully networked shows - such as the news etc. How this was 'timed' is a thread on it's own and is discussed in the "TV Studios" thread!!!
There were different companies for each region...
London - shared between Thames and London Weekend Television (LWT)
East of England - covered by Anglia Television
Midlands - covered by ATV, until it was rebranded to Central
North-West, covered by Granada Television
North-East - Tyne-Tees Television
Cumbria/Isle of Man - Border Television
Yorkshire - Yorkshire Television (YTV)
In Scotland, there was "Scottish Television" (Now STV), and Grampian Television covering north scotland (the largest ITV area).
Northern Ireland had Ulster Television (now "UTV")
In the south was "HTV" - covering Wales/Bristol, and a seperate "HTV Wales" channel - producing welsh language programmes.
Then there was "Southern TV" covering the south, kent, across towards Dorset - they became "TVS" - Television South.
Across through Cornwall/Devon, was "Westward Television" - later "Television South West".
Finally, in the Channel Islands, was (is) "Channel TV"
The only original ITV companies still on air today are "STV" and "Channel" - but under the ITV1 banner.
Each area showed the main network shows, but often at different times.
One thing I remember was, ATV used to produce "Crossroads" and it was 'up to date' in the Midlands.
When we visited my Nan in Guernsey, it would be shown at a different time, and about a month behind!
