I was just listening to Lou Reed's Transformer and realised I knew every word to every song
So, that got me wondering....
Which albums do you know so well you could you sing every lyric to every song?

I reckon all the Bowie 70s albums, The Clash debut, Never Mind The b***ocks, Transformer, The Smiths discography, Prefab Sprout's Steve McQueen - and a few more. I'll mull it over

Good question! I'll have to mull it over while trying to remain 2m from every living being in Tesco shortly, but you'd have to get up early to find a BJH song I don't know inside out, or an ABBA one. Probably The Essential Journey and quite possibly some really embarrassing ones, too. I'll report back .

Not sure who'd I'd put up for Benny and Bjorn - I suppose it'd have to be, Gene & Sam!

Abba was everywhere when I was a kid, on the Radio, TV, in the shops it would be playing, magazine covers etc.
Though - I am not the worlds hugest Abba fan, but there are a few of their songs that will always put me somewhere - "Ahh, when I first heard this, I was here..." etc.
They released "Dancing Queen" in 1976, nearly 45 later, it is still one of very few songs that can fill a dance floor - with all ages. That must be some kind of achievement! Can't think of much now people will be dancing to in 45years time.

Exactly. I was going to come up with an example but I'm so utterly removed from modern music, I can't really. I do envy you having been there. My dad gave me the only ABBA they had which wasn't on vinyl (we didn't have a record player) in about 1998 - a box of 4 cassettes from Readers Digest and that's the only two images I had of the band for a fair while. I do remember being a bit sad when I learned that they weren't around any more! But that's since been the theme of absolutely everything in my life. I'm always decades too late for the things I love. There are scenes in ABBA The Movie of merchandise that I used to be transfixed by when I was a kid. You could actually get Abba badges and t shirts (kids' size!) and best of all (for a 5 year old) the ABBA dolls! I mean they're dreadful by today's standards, but I had a picture of them in one of my ABBA books and was forever in awe that they existed. I finally (confession time) actually bought one when I was about 20 on eBay. Just because I knew 5 year old me wouldn't forgive me if I passed up the opportunity. Waffling again. I don't really think I listen to anything similar to ABBA. If there is anything similar to ABBA! But for pop music, you can't really get any better. Here endeth my monologue.

Abbas Greatest Hits. Bought it from Prestos in Whitefield on the way home from school one night in late 76. Still got it and still play it!

The first time I heard "Take a Chance on me" was in 'International Superstores' - which was in a recently opened Shopping Centre - in err, um 1978.
A sound recordist I know, now retired. Worked for ATV, and later Central for donkeys years. Much of his work was for the evening local News Magazine "ATV-Today". In 1977 he was sent to the Birmingham Odeon, with a camera crew and reporter (some guy called Chris Tarrant) to interview Abba while on their first UK tour.
He said - at the time, he didn't know who they were..... not sure what hell he had been up to for the previous 3 years! But did ask them for a signed photo - which he still has.
Cheeky begger!
Still can't think of an ENTIRE album I could sing every lyric to thoug.....
