I know Sam's TV contribution to The Railway Arms allegedly fell off the wall (his gap year skills failing miserably) in the same episode. The scene was shot but cut for time. Has this or any other deleted scenes ever been seen? Please share if you know others.

Welcome to 4:3tv by the way Gene.

Welcome to 4:3tv by the way Gene. Is this Episode 1? If the scene was "shot" it should be in the shooting script; and then left out in Post Production (for whatever reason). Though, if the scene was written and deleted prior to the final shooting script being printed - the shoot script will show "Scene Omitted".
There are a few scenes "Omitted" in Ep1 Script.
Once a scene is "Omitted", all details of it vanish from the shoot script.

Episode 4 I believe. Sam builds some brackets and Nelson asks "will it hold" Sam replies "I spent my gap year in a carpentry shop" ... or words to that affect. Yes episode one was cut quite a bit for time. Scenes of Phyllis' introduction hit the cutting room floor.

Don't think I have an Ep 4 script sadly. (If I had, the Guv would have had a copy).
A lot went from Ep1. I think the Ep1 script was a "Pink" revision (on white paper), and so would be a 2nd revision. But they do revise odd pages as they shoot.
Writers are usually advised to write a bit extra - so for an hour show, write around 65-70min.
When a Director sits down with the Editor to cut the film, he has to be in the mind that he has everything - plus a bit coverage and a safety net. Just in case. Going into an Edit and then realising you need an extra day shooting is as bad as punching the Producers Mother!

How interesting. How many scripts do you have!

How interesting. How many scripts do you have! A couple, though sadly can't dish them out/post copies of them due to copyright reasons. I was given them to print out the pages I needed for a particular day's shooting - so we could make a ready reckoner on how a scene should look - then we could draw up an idea of what equipment we'd be needing the next day, and prep/pack the trucks accordingly.

There are a couple of deleted Ashes scenes on the DVDs. Off the top of my head I can’t remember if there are any Mars ones but that gives me an aim for tomorrow! Definitely never seen Sam’s TV falling off the wall, although it doesn’t surprise me

Wait? Filming ! What did you do? Are you a crew member?
