‘82 was the year I got a VHS on hire from a tv shop. The amount of times I mis-set the timer. And ended up with 1/2 an episode of the Open University or the last minute of the National Anthem as the TV Station closed down.

Dress code I suppose you'd call it, the closest I got to that was wearing band t shirts, denim jacket & hi-top trainers, I used to wear Converse All Stars years before they became fashionable They used to stink when they got wet or sweaty, especially if you left them on a radiator to dry out. Speaking of 80's football shirts being worth money today, t shirts of bands can sell for hundreds.
That was a horrible look, a mullet with just the back permed. And wet perms. Men started using hair gel.
Are we talking tour Tee shirts Arthur? As for the Hi top Trainers that was a thing too around the time of the Freeze video until about 1985. The ones to have were in reverse order ( see if you remember these) Number 3 Hi-Tec Tecs Number 2 Adidas - Top Ten and number 1 Nike Vandal High Always liked the silver ones personally Marty McFly wears a pair of Vandal High in Back To The Future I had a pair similar to these suckers in '89 Del. Don't know whether to be happy or sad about the fact I had em!
I also got these Reebok one's once too.
Glad things calmed down a bit in the 90's trainer wise... give me a nice pair of adidas Superstar's any day.

Those Reeboks are certainly in your face style wise.

Those Reeboks are certainly in your face style wise. They and the adidas ones were surprisingly comfortable Del. I did have a pair of Fila boots once @~~! they were bloody cripplers.
Couldn't even look at these sort of boot trainers now let alone wear them...

I've never been a trainers person by any stretch, but I do remember having some gold trainers at primary school which were quite snazzy . I barely remember the 90s, but that is technically my era, I suppose. When I look at photos of my brother and me then, I think the most striking difference is the type of clothes. Whilst my parents didn't have very much and most of what we wore was second-hand (which I like to think means I actually grew up in the 80s ) I don't think we were alone in the fact that kids were just put in clothes which kept them warm/dry and that was that. It's all quite vibrant, practical materials with garish patterns or whatever ... lots of poppers, I seem to recall! But when I see pictures of the kids of people I was at school with, they're dressed like the adults! It's all matching and more to be looked at than covered in mud. I don't know, it just seems like that's quite a notable change.

Berghaus jackets like these started appearing in a big way up North around 88-89. Expensive as... and if you had/wore one back then they were the equivalent of wearing say Canada Goose etc. now.

This is England is a strange one for me. It should have a fair few things that I should like about that period but for some reason I've never really caught it properly and a bit like Spike Island sort of felt the '90 series which I caught bits and pieces of didn't really gel, seem right or for real to me although it wasn't a bad watch and I suppose compared to some of the shower of made recently... I should have seen the earlier film and series and will try and catch them sometime.

Though, it was made about 2 miles down the road from where I live, so didn't have far to travel early morning or late day.
The costume truck being full of dreadful tracksuits, 80s sportswear and stuff similar to what my Nan was wearing in the 80s!
