Shame that Tony wasn't credited in The Sweeney or either of the 2 films. In fact all his acting credits on imdb are listed as 'uncredited', the imdb list is also missing several titles he appeared in including 'A Hard Day's Night' & 'Repulsion'.

Good link Arthur. I never spotted Tony as the removals man in the Minder episode.

Only just caught up with the sad news, RIP Tony Allen.... no doubt he'll be propping up the bar of the Red Cow alongside John Thaw and Garfield Morgan having a fag and a chin wag. Villain

RIP Tony Allen. I really liked his 'Bill the driver' role. I automatically picture him in that blue jacket with a white/red stripe at the sleeves.
He was in The professional episode, 'Fall Girl'. When Bodie is walking along the street with roses in his hand, then Bodie changes his mind about giving flowers so he hands them to a little old lady in the street. She promptly tries to sell them for a pound to a stranger walking by, who is Tony Allen !
There are lots of those. I remember screen grabbing them years ago.
Thanks Tony for driving NHK295M.

Here's Tony (centre) on set on S1 of "Minder" in 1979. He seems to be also carrying a Unit Radio, so it's possible he also worked as a Driver/Stand In for Dennis.
Also pictured (L-R)
Melinda Rees (Continuity), Nick Pearson (Camera Grip), Mike Matthews (Focus Puller), Brian Elvin (Camera Operator), Dennis Waterman, Derek Rye (Sound) - behind Dennis, Roy Pointer (Lighting Cameraman), John Samworth (Boom Operator) And Tony Allen crouched at the front.

Great snap, Nice one Sparky A handful of the crew also worked on "The Sweeney". Euston would have had other bits also in production back then - possibly "Out" and "Dange UXB".
Brian Elvin worked on a lot of the "Professionals". Though, not sure about the Noel Edmunds sweater though!!!

RIP Bill.
When I see pics like this (great pic by the way) I often wonder if they remember each other from years ago & reminisce about stuff they’d worked on together & locations they’d filmed at, or was it just another job.

RIP Bill. When I see pics like this (great pic by the way) I often wonder if they remember each other from years ago & reminisce about stuff they’d worked on together & locations they’d filmed at, or was it just another job. If it's a regular crew, they will without a doubt. Euston Films was a very close knit setup; a lot of the same crew worked on Special Branch, Sweeney, Minder as well as Out and some of the one offs. Actors and crew often bump into each other on other jobs, and years later. Crew work in London - was then especially, as kind of still is - very 'closed shop'; they didn't like outsiders coming in. So a lot of crew working in and around London either worked at the Film studios at Pinewood/Elstree etc, or with setup like Euston Films.
Thing is, if you work on a series - episodes are shot out of order, as are the scenes within them, so it's quite hard to remember everything. I worked on 14 series of Peak Practice - and can only remember constant pouring rain, someone reversing a generator truck into Derby City Council offices (not intentionally) and a daft dispute over wages that had been rumbling on since 1979.
I've bumped into a few actors that's been in stuff too. Most will acknowledge you. Others (not naming people) can be miserable a***holes and ignore everyone.
Then, if they upset too many people, some crew members have been known to make life difficult.....
From what I've heard, working for Euston Films back then was a massive team effort, everyone mucked in, pulled together. They had a good crew and actors.
All that shows on screen.
