Oh no! I'm very sorry to hear this Bolly. As you say, we are all helpless in this situation. There is nothing you can do except stay away for their sakes and yours. I wish her and the young one a swift and full recovery. Thanks Guv. They've discharged her so fingers crossed she's OK. She's had pneumonia previously so I think that's what's caused that specific symptom. Just not the news I was expecting this evening! We're never prepared for this type of news and when kids are involved it is incredibly sad. It is heartening news that they have been discharged though and don't require intensive care so fingers crossed for them both to knock this virus for six and sharpish. Gene.

I feel like she's going to get sick of me checking in every bloody hour now though! At least she's not alone at home, her husband would sound the alarm were she not to be OK.

Let’s hope they make a full recovery and this year just becomes an unpleasant memory.

Last week, Covid-19 struck rather too close to home for comfort for my family too. My wifes Auty who already had underlying health issues and was currently in a nursing home, was diagnosed with Covid-19. This morning we received the dreaded call and it's with great sadness that we've been informed that her Aunt has passed away this morning. A gentle reminder for all our members to stay at home over the Easter Holidays and stay safe. We can beat this thing if we all do the correct thing and keep our distance from others outside of the home. Have a good weekend all and stay safe. Gene. So sorry to hear that Gene, far too close for comfort, my condolences tp you all. Stay safe everyone, yes the weather is good but it isn't worth taking any chances, stay at home as much as possible as your health is the main priority. Sam.

My best friend is an absolute wonder woman. She's amazing; she's going through so much but still manages to to keep her two little kids and husband, house and full time job all in check. She lives 25 miles away from me where I grew up and so we message every day but I don't see her half as much as I'd like and obviously not for months now with the current madness. Well she'd been telling me her little boy was poorly the last few nights and today I hadn't heard from her at all - literally got a message 10 minutes ago, turns out that not only has he got covid19, but seemingly so has she. She hadn't mentioned that she, too, was feeling awful. She's spent most of today at the hospital having tests after coughing up lots of blood yesterday night and she's home again now but they're pretty sure that's what they're both going through. I feel so helpless because I literally can't do anything to help. Ordinarily if she were poorly, I would just hop in the car and help however possible but obviously, for multiple reasons, I can't do it. That's terrible news and incredibly worrying for all especially so when a child is at risk too. Anyone in your position would wish to help in anyway possible and despite being able to communicate still doesn't allay the concern for them so it is understandable that you'd feel helpless. But, you're doing all you can: regular contact will make a difference, it shows that you care and when they're feeling like shit the familiar voice of encouragement can be a great pick-me-up. Sam.

Sorry to hear bad news, and hope everyone on here stays safe and well. A distant relative of my wife's has been diagnosed with it too, and this reinforces that this is a real threat so we must do what we can to help beat this threat.
It's the biggest disruption to daily life I have ever know, I remember the three day week and power cuts but that was probably only about 10% of the inconvenience and disruption that this is.

Thank you all, I woke up to a message from her (having small children, she’s up at the crack of dawn) and her little boy was well enough to be keen on Easter eggs, so that’s a good sign. By the looks of things, they were already over the worst when they got it checked out. Fingers crossed I guess, and equally she’s got a 1 year old as well so I’m hoping since she seems fine that she will remain ok. My friend has had pneumonia before and the little boy is asthmatic so it could be why they’ve been more affected.
