English Actor and film producer Michael Medwin OBE has passed away aged 96. He is probably best known for playing radio station boss Don Satchley in the TV series "Shoestring." R.I.P. Michael Steed

Terribly sad news despite a great innings. It's documented elsewhere on 4:3tv that I met Michael a few years ago in Bristol and had a chat with him. He was very friendly and welcoming. I had written to him a few years before meeting him with regards to his involvement with Spring & Port Wine and he replied with a lovely hand written letter.
A really lovely chap. One of the last of his kind in a world now full of talentless celebrities.
RIP Michael and thank you for your contributions in TV & Film.

A very sad loss to the British film and TV industry. I first saw Michael on TV when I was a child. I'm glad he had such a Long life.
RIP Michael.

A fantastic innings but sad news nonetheless.
He always seemed to be an actor in a supporting role rather than a main role which I think he could have easily accomplished given his broad spread of experience.

Yes Gene, he always seemed a decent sort of bloke. I saw him give an interview for Indicator/Powerhouse Films on a relatively recent Blu-ray release of the 1966 Albert Finney film Charlie Bubbles. RIP Michael

Sad news, I liked him as Don Satchley. He made what could have been a thankless role into a good charachter
