Thanks for the heads up Gene. I am gutted as i was really looking forward to the season opener. Could this unfortunately be the start of cancellations for all sports not just F1. I can't see how they would cope with it other than cancelling races and having a shorter sesson

Interesting though that this announcement was not officially made until 10am. Fans were lined up at gate 1 to enter at 9am but were told to wait. Radio reports had it going ahead still at 9am. Very badly managed and communicated.

Cheers for the update Batgirl. That is totally bad management. They would know many fans would be travelling in from all over the country and from overseas. To leave it until the eleventh hour is awful.

Yes thanks for the updates on Melbourne Gene and BG. It’s sad to see the race being cancelled, but with the concerns around at the moment perhaps it’s the right thing to do and the last thing anyone wants is a ill driver, pit crew, mechanic etc. struck down in a race setting – doesn’t bear considering what could happen in that instance. I do believe both F1’s management and the race organisers could’ve moved a bit more swiftly than they did and if the race was under threat should’ve considered taking this action at least a week or two before cancelling the race pretty much before it was due to happen. As Del and BG say it’s bang out of order having fans rock up to the circuit and no word of it being cancelled in the morning of Free Practice – I was considering doing Melbourne this year and would like many from Melbourne, Australia and around the world would’ve been bitterly disappointed with it being cancelled with almost little or no notice. I suppose in hindsight there are more important things, but! To be fair they're damned if the do damned if they don't with cancelling the Melbourne and other races this season! I did book for the Monza race in September but considering this I’m unsure now whether the season will even go ahead and if it does will the calendar be altered with dates changed and races dropped now? Even if say half the races do go ahead will the season be devalued and if things stay as they are now I can see no race going ahead until May/June at the earliest. As said I’ve done a couple of races so apart from the possible financial hit there’s more important considerations right now, fingers crossed much of the season will go ahead in fact if the Melbourne and Far East races were re-scheduled for the Xmas/New Year period they might be more exciting from a TV/fan point of view. Let’s hope the season can be sorted as soon and as easily as possible!

The way it's going it could be a virtual F1 season this year Del and I'd be surprised if they get anything back in place by at least July this year. I'm not sure if this is a good or bad thing but at least it's something new/interesting in these times.

Nico Rosberg takes his Mercedes 300SL out and about in Monaco. That car is gorgeous.

Wonder how much the old 300sl as seen above goes for. Eye watering i bet. When Nico pushes it up the mountain you can really hear the straight six sing.
The 1955 300SL Alloy Gullwing came standard with a 3.0-liter straight 6 engine with Bosch mechanical fuel injection that produced 215 horsepower at 5,800 rpm.

With nothing to discuss in the F1 2020 world what former F1 rule would you bring back:
- One shot qualifying - Refuelling - Team Orders banned - Unrestricted testing
