Had another trawl in the archives..
"Take Your Pick" - Micheal Miles - was it Alec Dane with the Gong?
1957 - "Criss Cross Quiz" - Granada TV's first Gameshow.
1958 - "Spot the Tune" - Jackie Rae & Marion Ryan
1958 - "$64,000 Question" - Jerry Desmond
1962 "University Challenge" - Another from Granada.
1972 - "Sale of the Century" - Nicholas Parsons.
1967 - "Golden Shot" - I think Jackie Rae presented around this time too.
1974 - "Golden Shot" - more well known version.
Anne Aston and Wei Wei Wong.
1974 - "Indoor League"
1975 - "Celebrity Squares"
1976 - "New Faces" - Derek Hobson hands out the cheap bolly.
1977 - "Mr & Mrs" - Dreak Batey, here with Barbara Windsor & Husband Ronnie Knight. Careful Derek - too many questions and you might lose your kneecaps...
1982 - "Family Fortunes" - The last episode recorded at Elstree before the move to Nottingham in 1983. Extreme left is William G Stewart (15 to 1) in his Producer Days!
1983 - "Family Fortunes" - the first series recorded in Nottingham.
1984 - "Blockbusters"
1984 - "Price is Right"
1990 - "Bullseye" - One of the last episodes recorded in Birmingham - prior to moving to Nottingham.
2007 - "Countdown" - One of the last episodes recorded at YTV in Leeds, prior to the move to Granada TV studios in Manchester.

''And lo, it shall come to pass that many and varied landlocked council estates up and down the land shall be littered with unwanted speedboats mounted on trailors with nowhere to go.....'' . Villain There was a Bullseye repeat on Challenge quite recently where an Elderly couple - from Wolverhampton won two Jet-Skis..... I wonder how they got on Jet Skiing down the Birmingham Canal?
In the days of "Sale of the Century" - the land was littered with Teas Made and Digital Alarm clocks.
Mind you - Blockbusters just gave you a sweater and a dictionary or similar....

Fascinating these behind the scenes smudges Sparky. Those frieze sculpture things on the 'Blockbusters' set high in the air like that seems a waste, you only saw them during the gold run & at the ad breaks, wonder why they weren't in the background as part of the set?
Didn't realise until now that Blockbusters was a US show-

Bit of pointless trivia; Mr & Mrs was produced by Border TV (my local broadcaster growing up) and my Uncle & Aunt were on it once, they're divorced now, read into that what you will. I met Derek Batey once at a fete in the Scottish Borders, seemed like a nice bloke. That is all These are great Sparky

The Blockbusters sculptures were made of Fibreglass and some kind of polystyrene sprayed to look like stone. After the series ended in Nottingham, the sculptures were hanging around the perimeter of the roof in the Scenery loading Dock/Bay at the rear of the studios.
When the Studios closed in 2004, some of the sculptures were put up for auction. The remainder of the sculptures are still displayed around different bits of the site now owned by Nottingham University. I think I posted some photos of them in the "TV Studios" thread.
The "board" was in fact a huge wall of 35mm slide projectors rear projected on to a screen, with the edges masked with black drape. To operate the board - they had some custom controller. I gather the slides used to often stick - or were put in the wrong way round.
The technical bits of games hows always intrigued me - especially in the lengths they go to.
It doesn't surprise me it was a US format - TBH, I can't really think of a gameshow back then that wasn't. Though I may be wrong. ITV in particular took a lot of influence from the regional US TV networks.

Though by the late 1970s - "Border" were making it on their own.
Funny thing Babs and Ronnie Knight were divorced a little while after doing Mr & Mrs - I think there is a moral there somewhere!!

Does anyone remember the pyramid game, Great program!!! where ya had to answer these questions and turn over these segments which revealed a pyramid, think the top segment ya got a £1000 prize money! Twas a lot then in 1980! was on tv on a Saturday night! When tv viewing was just mint! I recently had to reluctantly be subjected to the Voice’ which is now the type of main crap which makes up Saturday night tele’ and what an absolute load of pretentious nonsense! Which leaves ya with thinking! Is that program really about the contestants or is it about the judges! Yawn yawn!
