I've been rewatching this on you tube as I hadn't seen it since it was first shown in early 1982 and its excellent. Roy Marsden is in it and he plays an ex RAF flight sergeant who has just been demobbed at the end of the Second World War, his character is called Jack Ruskin and he's a little bit Regan like, in that he doesn't like superior officers, bends rules and doesn't like people giving him bullshit!
He doesn't fancy going back to working in a factory after the war so he does a deal with this dodgy war surplus dealer played by Terence Rigby to buy a DC3 and start his own air freight business, based in Yorkshire where he lives.
Anthony Valentine was in the first episode as an RAF officer who is on the fiddle and its very good.

Only one series was done as the creator of the programme, Wilfred Greatorex, fell out with YTV, but the plan was to make it into quite a long running series, going from 1946 where the first series was set, up to the then present day, early 80s. A Lockheed Constellation was bought for the second series, which would have been in the 50s,but wasn't needed, think it went to the RAF museum, the DC3 in the first, and only, series I believe is still flying.

I'd forgotten all about this series. I recall it being on but never watched it, can't explain why.
Roy Marsden, Terence Rigby and Anthony Valentine: three very good actors that have appeared in a lot of series over the years, looks to be pretty good casting.
I'll have to have a butcher's, thanks Carty.
Sam.
