Watched the first episode of Quiller last night, cheesy stuff with a miscast Michael Jayston as the spy Quiller ( he's better in victim type roles I think, he has that sort of look & demeanour, he reminds me of David Warner ) & low budget production values for what is supposed to be an international spy thriller but lots of library music throughout helped turn it into an entertaining watch. A few people in the youtube comments are not liking the music

Is this series based on the 1966 film "The Quiller Memorandum" starring George Segal? I enjoyed the film.

Yes it's the same character Steve, looks like there were a number of 'Quiller' novels written by this man who has 10 different pen names. Must say I've not heard of the character before so I hadn't connected the film with the tv series.

Wasn't Quiller's quirk that he didn't carry or use a gun?

Wasn't Quiller's quirk that he didn't carry or use a gun? Yes & judging by the first episode where he's faced with someone shooting at him with an Uzi it seems a bit of a silly quirk to me Not sure if Quiller is into unarmed combat but the author of the books was into karate.

Thanks for posting Peter, seeing this took me back to 1977. My parents were avid viewers of "Who Pays The Ferryman?" and my father in particular liked the theme tune so bought the 7" single: Sam.
The BBC also released an album of music by Yannis Markopoulos.
