Fantastic collection BG, really nice to see them and it's so good that you've managed to hang onto them. As a nipper I had several of the Gerry Anderson stuff from Dinky - the SHADO Interceptor, SHADO Mobile, Ed Starker's gold car, Captain Scarlet's red saloon car and SPV, Lady Penelope's pink Rolls Royce and Joe 90's Flying Car. They were all passed on to my younger brother who eventually gave them away - to this day I've never forgiven him, the daft bugger! I and all my mate's in our street had the Mattell orange racing track sets, we'd link them all up to make them as long as possible, happy memories of doing that in the Summer holidays. For a while I was an incessant model builder, my Uncle worked in the Airfix factory in the early '70s and gave me loads of stuff, one kit in particular which I'm determined to find and build again is the 1/32nd scale Maserati Indy. The odd Christmas or birthday he'd splash out and buy me one the larger 1/24th scale aircraft kits, namely the Spitfire, Hurricane and Me109, I particularly enjoyed painting the latter as it was quite difficult to get the mottled camouflage right using cheap brushes and Humbrol paint, but I did a reasonable job as I recall! My uncle used to build a lot of the really nice Tamiya kits then pass them on to me when he ran out of shelf space, mostly the military stuff but the large scale car kits too, the Lola T70 is one that springs to mind (I nearly bought an unbuilt one at a recent car show at Stoneleigh but baulked at the price, the seller was asking £120 for it). Memories eh...! Villain

Probably my favourite toys weren't really toys, they were a bunch of old electrical stuff my Dad gave after rewiring a house. So I used to connect them up, buy stuff like little bulb holders you could get from Woolworths, make electromagnets etc. A lot of this was inspired by 1960s Dr Who as that is what the character did to get out of trouble, knock something together out of odds and ends. I was eventually given a couple of old telephones and discovered that if you removed the handsets and them connected them in series with a 4.5V battery you could talk to each other. Amazing, didn't even need an amplifier! Were you living in our house? That is exactly how I got into Electronics!
If something broke down beyond repair - eg TV/Radio - I would hoik it off to the garden shed and dismantle it to try and see how it worked and remove any bits that I could build something else. I ended up with shoe boxes full of bits and pieces - and raiding the local library (and school library) for books on electronics.
These parts came in dead handy when my brother grew up and built a large model railway... and I would end up building switch boxes, controllers etc for that.
Sadly - I haven't changed, and am still the same today; with a home small workshop and boxes full of electronic tat. Though am more qualified to do it and my soldering is much better!
I do remember the kits at Woolworths with the Torch bulbs and packs with bits of wire in.
Sparks, we’re long lost brothers separated at birth! I was the good looking one.

I found a couple of photos of my Dinky Transit van. I had that Transit as well when I was a kid. Yours is in great condition.

I did that too Arthur, I felt no guilt at all though, it was all part of Christmas as far as I was concerned. Hunting out the presents and then opening them up and trying to re-seal which was hard with 70's wrapping paper since the design of the paper usually peeled away with the sellotape. It's a skill I'm rather proud of Good call on the Pocketeers, this one was my treasured possession. Top Trumps was a pastime I enjoyed, this set was my favourite. I used to like to try and remember the whole set so if I had a certain card, I knew it'd be unbeatable. Weird, because these days I can't remember a thing The Top Trumps set I remember most is 'Prototypes' though I would've prefered the Horror one. The Pocketeer I remember most was the Fruit Machine one.
I used to find presents before they were wrapped though I did sometimes sneak downstairs on Christmas Eve night when everyone was in bed & partly unwrap tree presents.

As well as the toys I've also got a small selection of classic tv and comic annuals. Some I've had since back in the day like the Grange Hill and Tuckers luck ones and some I've collected along the way.

A great selection there BG I mentioned on the comics thread that I used to read all of those Whizzer & Chips, Cor, Knockout, Tiger etc as well as Hotspur, Victor etc. I could quite happily read all of those. I also noticed The Fall Guy Annual, seems like a nice fella

No cover - and some pig has literally been through it with a felt tip pen and coloured everything in.
You have a Fall Guy annual!
Do you remember "Topper"?

Yes remember Topper. The Fall guy annual must be quite rare.

I'm ever so sorry to bring up an old thread but what the heck...!!!!!
Who doesn't love a nostalgic toy?!
So, have you folks been digging around to see what is still in your possession? Failing that, are you doing what I do every now and again and scouring eBay for a few little gems to jog those happier memories?!
What's in your collection??

Triang and Hornby Dublo trains, some dating back to the 50s, which I picked up second hand when I was at school, some bought for birthdays and Christmas, I've had them since I was a kid, and they all still run!
A few books and magazines I've had for years, and a few Dinky and Corgi cars.
