I'm sure one night in the Summer of 1990, we came back to my mates flat he lived at, then after being out at a late bar on a Saturday night and we'd watch a bit more telly with some grub and a bit more booze, we saw an episode of the mid 80's revival of "The Saint" starring an unknown Tim Dutton as Templar (he drove a blue Jensen Interceptor in this one). I believe about 6 90 minute episodes were made.
Also an episode of the imported with English dubbed German detective series "Schimanski" - he was a sort of German Columbo, with a tatty raincoat and ate on the run etc, but was supposed to be sharp detective.
Some have thought the Tim Dutton Saint series was never as good as the Moore or Ogilvy series and Schimanski would have had a very limited following in the UK from cult "alternative TV" fans. The English dubbing varied from posh sounding actors being used for the police chiefs and establishment characters and Schimanski and his lower rank colleagues voiced by down to earth sounding actors, even one that sounded "London!"

I have no recollection of 'Schimanski' at all, possibly it didn't air in my region ( Granada ) as I'm sure I'd remember it. According to a yt comment Schimanski was a character in a German tv police series that still runs today called 'Tatort' ( 'Crime Scene' ).

Those titles are like a cross between the titles to "Ashes to Ashes", "Dangerman" and the "Partridge Family".
