I was quite a big fan of OMD as a teenager.... in fact I'm off to see them in Guildford for the first time live in a few weeks and quite excited as some of their recent live gigs recorded have been good.
Imagine my surprise that I hadn't seen this the video of.... souvenir Before...... especially now that I own 2 Karmann Ghia's.
And I recently worked out where some of this was filmed, anyone have any ideas?

I'm surprised that you hadn't seen that video. The track is a favourite of mine, certainly the best that OMD produced in my opinion. They did produce some good music but Souvenir was the best one for me. The location? Yes it is Stowe in Bucks and from Google maps we can see the bridge albeit from 2009: >>> Stowe, Bucks <<<Sam.

Again, they did one I thought was excellent, Enola Gay from late 1980. Remember that being on the radio many times when driving home at night in my A40!

One of my fave bands from the 80's; I have Joan OF Arc, Maid Of Orleans on a 12 inch single & Messages was another good track. Andy McClusky went on to manage a girl band in the late 90's I believe. Think it was Atomic Kitten, the one that had Kerry Katona in it?
Anyway OMD is definitely one band I'd like to see in concert though I've only ever been to one concert in my life.

I saw Kerry Katona in Iceland once. Probably the best Atomic Kitten gig I've been to OMD were good. Souvenir is a favourite for me personally and I was really happy to hear it used on our Ashes To Ashes soundtrack I always drive past Stowe when travelling to Silverstone for the F1GP each year. Quite a haunting place in the dark. Gene.

Correct location... i only found the video after the MTV age in the early 00's - I guess living in Hong Kong as a kid I missed out on this video at the time - and hadn't acknowledged the KG, or the car design I would come to lust after...

Good band OMD but for some strange reason never really got around to seeing them, yet. Hopefully I'll remedy that.
2017's Punishment of Luxury was a good effort too.

Love this track!
Julia Tobin (Brenda in Auf Pet) was in the "Joan of Arc" video...

Souvenir is my favourite OMD track. Such a haunting sound. It may sound mad but whenever I hear the track it throws me straight back to the early Eighties.
