Proper funny this thread is Maria Whittaker..... Phwoar thats a blast from the past. A lot of those calendars suffered from manufacturing defects ... The pages kept getting stuck together It's still going I think. This is the most recent one i can find.

Wonder if they made any laminated calendars? I remember one time in the late 80s I was with someone who wanted to buy a top shelf mag but he couldn't pluck up the courage, so I said I'd do it. The first newsagent I went in I bottled it & ended up buying a Mars Bar ( with his money so he wasn't pleased ), then we tried a place in the bus station with an older woman serving, as I asked for the mag this bloke next to me half jokingly remarked 'disgusting' & the woman said 'you're not the first love & you won't be the last', I felt like a right :w***er: Watching a celebrity edition of Family Fortunes on Challenge a while ago I was struck by how lovely Anne Diamond looked.

Reminds me of this funny scene in a Woody Allen film I saw once. Woody was in a shop buying a grot mag, which he furtively hides in a copy of The New York Times, taking care not to be seen with it. He then goes to pay, again making sure no one sees said mag, then the bloke on the till holds it up, looking for the price. He then shouts to his mate at the back of the shop "How much is Orgasm?, yeah, Orgasm, this guy here wants to buy Orgasm!!"
Old woman in queue looks disgusted!

I'd not heard the charming term 'grot mag' until now, though I have heard of Grot Bags, the extremely fat bird from the 80's, she died last month sadly.
