Overall, i think series 1 was marginally better than series 2, but an excellent programme nonetheless. I probably prefer S1 too, Cartman. I think the stories are slightly better in the 1979 episodes. Vi

Yes, agree, Vi. I reverted to series 1 today with An uncertain circle, which I think is an outstandingly good episode. Great locations, loved the church and the Napoleonic off shore fort. I also liked the scenes at night on the beach. The story was good and well plotted with an interesting twist with the undercover police. One of the very best ones in my opinion.

Yes, you're right there, Gene. It was the episode Called 'The Dangerous Game'. Michael Medwin is still going strong: 92 this year ... and still is at 95, according to Wikipedia anyway.

It may also be of interest to you 3L that William Russell, who appeared in the first episode 'Private Ear', is still going strong at 94

Indeed it is Vienna, Ian Chesterton from the very first episode of Dr Who in 1963.

I've just rewatched another excellent episode from series 1, find the lady, the one which features Toyah Willcox and a punk band. The cast in this was very good, Gary Holton was in it too, and Peter Dean (Pete Beale from Eastenders), as his brother, who was a copper. Christopher Biggins was a sinister villain and the late Linda Bellingham in a bit part as a promotions girl, she was incredibly attractive at that time. A good story with some outdoor filming and a good bit of stunt work at the end where Eddie was clinging onto the bonnet of his Cortina which Biggins had tried to escape in.
The background music was good too, I heard Video killed the radio star and I don't like Mondays. It also featured a mark 2 Zephyr and a Bristol K type open top bus. All good stuff

Liz Crowther, who played the secretary at Radio West, appeared at an event in Birmingham a few months ago whilst she was working in the theatre in Hereford. She chatted about working on the series... and after watching several repeats of the show many years later, thought it was amusing that Eddie went about his business driving an orange Cortina

I got another one in today, from series 2, called Another man's castle, where a van of furniture was pinched and used to furnish a holiday cottage. I liked the seaside locations and the fact that John Forgeham was in it doing (brilliantly) his usual nasty bastard act. I've only got three to see now from both series and I've enjoyed these re runs.

'I'm a Believer' is a story about a religious cult called the Starshiners and is one of my favourite episodes from Series 1. Several of the locations used were filmed in Bath, Somerset. I recently found a previously undiscovered location over the border in Wiltshire, close to the village of Box, just off the A4. The Cult Leaders Mansion THEN NOW From a different angle Vi

Another undiscovered location from the Series 1 episode 'I'm a Believer' is the Starshine Cult terraced house. Recently, after a search of Victorian London, I managed to locate it in Raleigh Street, Islington, a bit further away than many London locations used in this series. Eddie Shoestring visits the Starshiners at their house... THEN NOW Work going on at the Starshiners' home... THEN NOW Vi
