The Gene Genie strikes again! Thanks for that!
He's one of those extras who did a heck of a lot of work - and perhaps a face better recognised than some of the stars. Is Mike still with us?
I believe Mike passed away a few years ago now Sparky. He was working up until 1999 though (please ignore his IMDB entry as it is woefully short of the mark.) Gene. IMDB are only starting to catch up with the real world. Saying that - their database is only as good as the information provided by production companies - if they have it available. For those with "uncredited" roles - up until the last 15 or so years, they tended to get forgotten about altogether - the only trace of their names you'd find would be via Payroll Accounts and sheets returned to the respective unions.
It was down to if you had a speaking role, before they would give you a credit (plus a few extra quid) - normally as "Man in Street", "Women Shopper #1" etc.
Tons of crew members get missed out.

I've been watching 70's/80's comedies lately
'Not On Your Nellie'
'I Didn't Know You Cared' 'Sorry I'm A Stranger Here Myself' 'Rutland Weekend TV'
Makes me feel quite down thinking back to the tv we used to watch, like looking at old photographs.

Remember a few of those Arthur. As well as not on your Nellie, Hylda Baker was in another series with Jimmy Jewel called Nearest and Dearest, about a pickle factory in Lancashire, which I used to like. I didn't know you cared was another good Northern one, with Carter and Uncle Mort, Stephen Rea and Robin Bailey, who was also in Sorry I'm a stranger here myself. From memory, that was on in about 1981.

Anyone remember Rockcliffe's Babies from 87/88?
Starred Ian Hogg, who is still ticking along. Seem to remember it was quite good.

I've been watching Nearest And Dearest as well, Hylda Baker isn't someone I'd really watched before but she's often hilarious. I Didn't Know You Cared & Sorry I'm A Stranger Here Myself on the surface seem routine sitcoms, but there's some very creative & unusual writing going on. You look at a show like Mrs Brown's Boys & the writing is just feeble in comparison.
Not sure if it was ever that well known to start with but 'Mog' by Peter Tinniswood, who wrote I Didn't Know You Cared, is another forgotten show starring Enn Reitel who was fairly well known in the 80's. His voice is more recognisable as he does a lot of voice over work. All I could find on youtube was this clip, it was adapted by Clement & La Frenais, Auf Wiedersehen Pet fans may find the theme tune familiar as it has elements of 'The Magnificent Seven Again' song heard in the scenes from the episode in series 2 where the lads are renovating Barry's house. Listen at around the 20 second mark-

However I did see a repeat on UK Drama in the early 2000's and didn't really rate it seemed a bit plodding (no pun intended) compared to the grittier style I remembered it for, perhaps it was just that episode and sadly didn't see any more and it's not been repeated since. There was a spin off Rockcliffe's Folly which IIRC he left the smoke and went to a genteel village - a bad idea!

I remember it well Arthur, it used to be regular viewing for Annie and me at the time. I've often searched to see if it was available anywhere but always drawn a blank. Sadly it is one of those that would be deemed very un-PC nowadays and when you look at the first of the reviews that comes up on >>> MOG - IMDB <<< it gets a slating as a program that the writer feels it to be quite offensive and even gives the review a title of 'Mental Abuse'. Give it a few years and I'm sure Dominic Sandbrook will include it in one of his programs and every 'celeb' will be completely shocked at the content. Me? I would watch it again if only for Catherine Schell. Sam.

The theme tune is on yt, written by David MacKay who did the Auf W Pet music. According to yt comments the singer, Stuart Leathwood ( who was in Merseybeat group The Koobas ) did backing vocals on 'That's Livin Alright'.
Another Clement/La Frenais series starring Enn Reitel, can't say I remember this one-

Mog, and Enn Reitel, are two things which have completly passed me by, I had never heard of either of them at all and had to Wikipedia both!
Rockliffes Babies I very vaguely remember but it didn't make any impression on me at all.
