A contrast to some of the Sweeney locations in London where a few have changed so radically since 1975 that it is difficult to pinpoint them. The church featured looks exactly the same in 2019 than it did in 1968. Probably if it was possible to go back to 1668, armed with a camera, the smudge would still be the same!

Yes, a very good point Cartman. Little has changed over the 52 years since filming in autumn 1967, and probably not much really going back to the time the film was set in. Vi

Whilst Alan met Philip for a pint in the Bell Inn in the chocolate-box village of Kersey in Suffolk, I took the opportunity to have a look at another location from this film... I later enjoyed a bite of Alan's tuna sandwich for lunch The film starts with a woman being dragged kicking and screaming along a footpath by a crowd, accompanied by a priest giving her the last rites. She's unfortunately going to be hanged at the top of the hill for supposedly being a witch! The Green, Kersey THEN NOW THEN NOW Vi

Glad you're enjoying them, Steve. Here's some more... WARNING: The screenshots below show scenes of corporal and capital punishment! Rupert Rigsby decided to take Miss Jones for a day out to visit the magnificent Kentwell Hall near Long Melford in Suffolk for the May Day celebrations. As moggies can get in for in for nothing I thought I'd come along and takes some photos of scenes which featured in the film. The witch dunking tests scene was carried out here at this 16th century stately home. Hopkins, Stearne and a crowd of witch hunters bring John Lowes and the women accused of witchcraft to Kentwell Hall THEN NOW If you are innocent you will drown in the water; if you swim or float, it will be assumed you are involved in witchcraft and will be executed The 'witches' are lowered into the moat at Kentwell Hall THEN NOW John Lowes and two women float, so are hanged from a nearby tree. THEN NOW Vi
