Checked those very good choice of single out Superclassic ; Kinky Afro - Happy Mondays - April 1990 Seal - Crazy...............- December 1990 Blur - There's no other way - April 1991 I'm quite surprised at the Blur single being more recent than the other two,Del Boy.Good bit of research there. It also puts me wrong for thinking that I bought the Seal single and the Happy Mondays single together;a good few months between them puts it in doubt.
I did actually buy Hue and Cry's 'Looking For Linda' around the same era. Also Bros' single 'Chocolate Box'.And Curiosity Killed The Cats' 'Name And Number' (think that's what is was called).Unfortunately,my musical era at school wasn't too strong, looking back.

First single ?
I'm guessing to a degree as I brought a few in succession way back in 1977. I think the first may have been How Deep Is Your Love by The Bee Gees or Things We Do For Love - 10CC.

But do bear in mind that cassette singles were available then, too. I bought the very first cassette single, which was by Bow Wow Wow, "C30 C60 C90 Go" EMI refused to promote the cassingle because it allegedly promoted home taping as Side B was blank

First one for me was The Climax Blues Band - Couldn't Get It Right.
Up till that point I never had a proper stereo and relied on tapes from mates but after a number of years saving my pocket money I bought a Leak turntable, Akai amp, tuner, and cassette deck separates, and Wharfedale speakers...
...and that one single!
Sam.

I remember having 'Sgt Rock' by XTC & 'It's Going to Happen' by the Undertones, would've been about 9 at the time so no doubt one of my brothers bought them for me. I didn't start buying records until I was about 16.

Only need a few more and we'd be able to release a 43TV compilation album.
Naturally it would have to be on the K-tel label, on vinyl and with a record changer free with every copy!
Any other first singles?

First one for me was Olivers Army by Elvis Costello and the Attractions. Still have it today and still play it occasionally.
