1992 I think, very good first couple of series. Last one not so much.

I remember this being much rawer and tougher than Line Of Duty. Remember seeing a clip from an episode where a female Asian shopkeeper was being threatened by robbers, she was shot in the shoulder and then they went outside where armed police were waiting for them and they were killed.

It's been a long time since i've seen this show, as it never seems to be repeated and has been unavailable on dvd for a considerable time also. However BBC4 are showing it starting on Sunday 28th at 10.00pm.

Sort of an early Line of Duty with less murders.

The central character in this series, superintendent Tony Clarke gets his trousers off every episode, makes Jack Reagan look like a monk.
Frankly its a bit ridiculous.
Of course its a fictionalised version of police work in the early 90's, however on seeing it again after all these years its quite shocking the picture it paints of police work. Just about every character is very seriously flawed, apart from one or two every character is either bent, totally ineffective as a police officer or completely self centred. In it's day the real Met must have watched opened mouthed thinking is this what people think we are like.
