Noticed that Blakes 7 started on Forces TV last night ( followed by 'UFO' ). It wasn't a show I watched at the time but I thought the first episode was interesting so I'll be trying to remember to tune in.
As far as I can see it airs each week day at 9pm & 12.50am, then repeated over Sat & Sun starting 8pm.
Worth a watch AP if you like science fiction, the early ones were the best. You have to look beyond the dodgy sets mind. I think they spent about half a crown per episode.

I never saw it beyond the opening titles.
My nan (a self appointed armchair TV critic) described it as "Crossroads in Space - without the Brummie Accents and shaky credits"

It could be remade with much better production values and a better plot. Think it was considered but never came off.

The problem seems to be that videotape exposes sets & effects a lot more than film, it's too bright & clean looking. I think any tv sci fi ( excepting big budget American shows ) deserves respect for risk taking & ambition. People take the p*** out of Doctor Who & Blakes 7 but at least they were trying to do something different from the standard tv drama even if it didn't always work.
You look at all the drama on tv today & you see very little imagination, same old 'gritty' this & 'challenging' that, lots of social comment but not much broadening of horizons.

That I do agree with. With the early Dr Who's - they were limited in what they could do - so they had to exploit what the BBC had available at the time, and with what money they had. I've watched quite a few early Dr Whos - and was quite impressed.
These days we're all used to big budget CGI and Effects in everything- even some adverts and Music Videos, we can even do some pretty impressive stuff on our own computers too.
A majority of the audience will compare these old episodes to something they see on TV or in the Cinema today - and ignore the point that the episode was made 50+ years ago, with limited facilities and not a lot of money.
The minority watching audience will see through all that and enjoy the episode for what it is.
I'm sure if I watched a few episodes of Blakes 7 (which I think I will at some point) - I might enjoy it.
Again - totally agree on the point about TV Drama today. Much of it has to go through countless meetings between the writer and producers to ensure enough PC/Product Placement/Social Comment is included...

I much prefer dramas set in interesting settings, soaps just set in everyday settings are boring.

Thought it was a brill show! and was ahead of its time, as a kid I had a toy liberator lol! I thought some of the episodes were quite scary! Always remember the episode where it shows a vision of the liberator, in the future, blowing up!

The second episode was good, several familiar faces from The Sweeney in it & also noticed the actor who plays Tarot in 'Ace Of Wands' as I've been watching it recently.
