Love that final score picture. Always remember watching it on Saturday afternoons. Some times you would see a result updated whilst it was on camera. Usually a late kick off finishing while the scores were read. It would slide in to place a bit like the Blankety Blank prize board. I remember the scores being updated on-screen too.
I would think the League Tables would be made up of magnetic strips (like they used on the weather); which would make life much easier and quicker for the Graphics Artist re-arrange the teams and keep the league tables updated.
Imagine a show, such as Grandstand or World of Sport - that covered many sports; from Racing, Rugby to Speedway and Darts - each sport would have needed it's own graphics and results.
If I remember, the Horse Racing graphics resembled chalk board writing?
Believe it or not - this method of graphics was still pretty standard in many studios until around the mid 1980s.
Imagine Sky Sports working with this kind of stuff these days ;-)

The discussion about Letraset reminded me of these, I used to love them. Apologies for being off topic but............... Letraset ActionI think my Brother had the "Batman" TV series transfers - he covered the wardrobe doors in them.
The BBFC (the film censors) were still using Letraset to put in the Film Title as late as 2007 to make the 'Censor board' notice that have to be legally screened before each film in the UK.
With Cinema being about 99.9% digital these days, I would think the Censor boards would have been produced electronically.
I had a visit to the BBFC in 2007 as part of a very tedious seminar ; but the highlight was being shown about - they had one person, sat in a graphics studio - ironically, printing out the Censor Boards on a computer. And then adding the titles in with Letraset.....
Amusingly - we were told; as a policy they view any Adult/Porn films first thing in the morning. Never after lunch. When asked why this was- the guide blushed and avoided the answer.....
One colleague suggested that it was because their "Viewers" could all bugger off to the toilets during the lunch hour...... That didn't go down to well!
Incidentally, all films are viewed with a timecode at the bottom of the screen, and notes for changes/cuts etc, are made using this timestamp as a reference.
