Reports say that Ferrari have replaced Maurizio Arrivabene just a month before pre season testing begins. Arrivabene had been at the helm for 4 years but it is thought that Ferrari were not happy with how Ferrari's title challenge faded in the closing races for 2 consecutive years.
Mattia Binotto is to replace Arrivabene with immediate effect.
Whilst not a fan of Arrivabene myself, I think he's been made something of a scapegoat here. A fair amount of blame for the loss of title must go to Vettel and the errors he made throughout the year thanks to increasing pressure from Hamilton.
I wish Ferrari well in 2019, but not as well as I wish Kimi at Sauber.

A few little snippets of pre-season F1 news I see McLaren have had a (another) restructure and appointed ex-Porsche man Andreas Seidl as their new Managing Director.

Interesting appointment. This perhaps could pave the way for maybe an alliance with Porsche (VAG) in future? I don’t expect instant revival of fortunes for them (or Williams) this season mind being honest although got a steady (if not spectacular) driver in Sainz and a hungry rookie in Lando Norris could (hopefully) see them get a few half-decent points finishes this year!
Also interesting is Mick Schumacher has been signed up to Ferrari’s driver programme.

I suppose if Mick does well enough in this season’s F2 he’ll perhaps graduate to a Sauber/Haas seat for 2020? Whether he’ll emulate his dad and sign for Ferrari is another story, however if he does prove himself and end up at the level Leclerc has shown in 2018 by then he’ll certainly have a strong case for making the move to Maranello. Perhaps a change of scene and/or exit for Vettel by 2021… more likely if he hasn't delivered a WDC for them by then.

With the start of a new racing year I enjoy seeing the colour changes of the cars. It's always difficult to remember who is driving for what team at the start but if I recognise the cars that's a help ! I enjoyed this quick little quiz on preferred new livery. You get to see the results after you voted. f1i.com/news/330009-f1i-poll-vote-for-your-favourite-2019-design.html

The Barcelona test starts today so we get to see these 2019 cars on track and gain some idea of performance. I read an article yesterday where Ferrari estimate this years aero changes will mean teams could be losing 1.5 seconds of lap time. Smoke and mirrors time.
I'm interested to see how Red Bull go with Honda power. Would love them to succeed. Hope Renault move forward to. I'm supporting those teams and hope they disrupt the Mercedes, Ferrari domination.

A Documentary/Series (as the F1 site has described it) is due to be released on Netflix early March 2019 on the F1 2018 season.

Latest:
The FIA are set to introduce a new points bonus in each race this season. A single point is to be awarded to the driver who sets the fastest lap of the race - On the proviso that they finish in the top 10. This will be the first time since the 1950s. In the right situation, this could put the cat amongst the pigeons if a race leader is pacing himself whilst close on championship points to the second placed driver who could theoretically back off to give himself space on the last lap to have a final flier.
