Here's a "Play Safe Film" from 1978. Didn't know it was 10 a minute long film. Each section (The Pole building in the field, the Substaton/Frisbee film) were made into seperate shorter edits.
Anorak note - the comment/banner thingy states it's a "New Transfer" - they must have forgot to colour correct and lift the brightness a little.

Thanks for posting this Sparks I didn't know there was a longer version of this film either. The shorter edit of the kid in flares trying to retrieve a frisbee from a substation was often shown well into the 80s. The voice on the film sounds like Brain Wilde. Vi

Vi That's right - I remember seeing the Substation film well into the 80s. There was another - slightly different from the one in this video- about the dangers of flying kites near pylons. It ended with a kid lying on the grass and the surrounding grass on fire. There was another - with kids pushing a boat with a large mast under wires...
Brian Wilde was the Narrator on these films.
Bernard Cribbins did the voice(s) for the Cartoon Characters.
As a footnote on Substations.. A school mate did his apprenticeship with the old CEGB, working on Pylons as a Linesman. For training, they used an old "dead" substation at the old Staythorpe Power station - during his training, he died 4 times! All through very silly and simple mistakes.

I wonder if anyone is familiar with a 1976 pseudo documentary come PIF called Take An Easy Ride, supposedly about the dangers of hitchhiking? I heard that the original treatment was turned down by TV so it was remade for the cinema and considerably spiced up so much it turned into a sexploitation film. It's quite cringeworthy to watch and not something that would have been up for the BAFTAs. It must be the first and only film that set out to be a PIF and ended up getting an X certificate ! This review/synopsis is pretty accurate www.britishhorrorfilms.co.uk/takeaneasyride.shtml

Weird that you should do a post about 'Take An Easy Ride' as as I was posting about 'Powerful Stuff' I nearly mentioned that it features Dicken Ashworth from the Minder ep. 'Not A Bad Lad Dad', 'Take An Easy Ride' features Gennie Nevinson who plays Terry's girlfriend Penny in that episode & a few others.
I saw it a few years ago, from memory it was a bit rubbish & didn't live up to its reputation. The BFI recently released a compilation of low budget British short films called 'Short Sharp Shocks', most of them are bloody awful!
