This one, rather than making me think about securing my bike, made me deeply curious about what was in that camp bloke's saddle bag that was "personal" ? No really, all kinds of things have gone through my mind throughout the years....
Sounds like good old Frank Windsor on voice over duties on this PIF.

They were never "officially" broadcast; but I remember seeing the 'Protect and Survive' series of films years back - and they totally sh*t me up! In the case of these films; they were stored (at Central at least) in a locked safe within the Presentation/Transmission department.
When ordered by the Government - these films would be retrieved from the safe and screened directly from Telecine. The call for this would come via the "Red Phone" - the ITV network internal conference call system.
The BBC also had a similar arrangement (they had an underground transmission suite and a backup one) - the Radio stations had pre-recorded disks with messages on. I think the BBC had an underground radio studio and control centre at Wood Norton, the country house where they trained BBC engineers. I have a feeling that there were similar smaller versions in regional emergency centres all with the same equipment. Patrick Allen, the voice of the Protect and Survive films recreated his work on the Frankie Goes To Hollywood Two Tribes hit in 1984. Apparently he told the band that he could be prosecuted for recreating what was part of the Official Secrets Act, but was pretty confident he'd be safe enough.

Yes that gay bloke & his sinister saddle bag is hilarious Frank Windsor's Z Cars co-star Stratford Johns is in a similar pif. Ivor Salter from 'Chalk And Cheese' playing the desk sergeant. I did read that Kenny Everett was the voice of Charley the cat.

Yes, I must try attending sometime in the future as they look like a lot of fun. As you say, I'm in the back of beyond and getting a passport to use outside of Yorkshire is difficult but not impossible. I sneaked into London as an 18 year old back in '81 but gave myself away when I asked for a packet of crisps to go with my pint and was told "we don't do food in pubs down here, Son". The positive side though was I developed a taste for Fuller's ESB. Just realised that the last time I was anywhere near central London was 1986. I guess there have been a few changes since ! You'll get on with John Steed, he's a bit of an expert when it comes to Fullers lol!! Not only that but I think it was also back in '81 when Steed last bought a round in London ... or anywhere for that matter! Sam.

Frank Windsor again (I think) telling the tale of Dennis Trout and his factory floor antics backed by the old Junior Showtime library music. These days, Dennis would have found himself sacked and would have been heavily fined by the HSE... that is if his workmates hadn't got to him first and beaten the *** out of him.

The 'Where's Your Lad?' PIF was originally from 1976 and appears to have been a shorter version than the one I remember being shown in the 80s.

This is a good spoof. Hilarious!!!
Don't let Boris and his bonking bozos see this; it'll be screened across all channels by the end of next week. Though it'd need to include enough emotional blackmail and contradict the last film to compete with the trash that's being pumped out currently!

Of course, the radio studio was at Wood Norton. BBC Pebble Mill in Birmingham had a replica backup Network Control Room for the BBC1 and 2 side of things.

I think it's Peter Hawkins doing the voice, he did a lot of pifs including the Jo & Petunia cartoon ones ( Wendy Craig does Petunia's voice below, Brigit Forsyth also did her voice in a later version ) , here's an interview with him-
