There was a similar rash of terrible cover versions in the mid/late 80s too. All Saints did two I liked, Never Ever and Pure Shores, this one I thought was very good Pure Shores was a great track, I agree. Back to cack cover versions, for me they don't get much worse than this.

I love that Bill Withers track, original or remix. It's just such a wonderfully happy song. Rarely does a song, imo, sound happy as well as making you feel it when you hear it. That one does. He had such a way with words. A real poet.

Listening to Now 70s last night and along came this: I know that there have been other cover versions but I'd managed to forget that this one had existed - now I'll have to try and forget it all over again! Sam. Oooh blimey Sam. I'd forgotten they did that too.
Sadly, I remember this Sam Fox version too
As covers go, much preferred the version by the Tourists.
Jesus wept I remember that on the Top 40 around that time, yes it's a baddun Sparks.

A pop group in the late 90s covered the Chilli Peppers classic Under The Bridge and the cover was just appalling. That is a deeply personal song from Kedis, the singer, and they reduced it to jingly pop nonsense. I was and still am furious about that. The only good thing about that was it introduced me to the original which I was not familiar with. Once the original was heard the cover got elbowed

The other day I stumbled upon this dreadful cover of The Who's 1965 No.2 hit... Fortunately, it was not released as a single. Vi

I'm inclined to think that the cover version was the No.2! I suppose we have to be thankful that it wasn't released. Sam.
