Both are as appealing as the last packet of Happy Shopper Mince Pies still on your corner shops shelves in March I think I'd sooner have the mince pies! Sam.

Listening to Now 70s last night and along came this:
I know that there have been other cover versions but I'd managed to forget that this one had existed - now I'll have to try and forget it all over again!
Sam.

Sadly, I remember this Sam Fox version too
As covers go, much preferred the version by the Tourists.

I actually think the Bay City Rollers version was better than this

A pop group in the late 90s covered the Chilli Peppers classic Under The Bridge and the cover was just appalling. That is a deeply personal song from Kedis, the singer, and they reduced it to jingly pop nonsense. I was and still am furious about that.

Dreadful cover.
If I remember, there was a period around the lat 90s into the 2000s where just about every new act would release a cover or two. Most, if not all of them were utter shite!

There was a similar rash of terrible cover versions in the mid/late 80s too.
All Saints did two I liked, Never Ever and Pure Shores, this one I thought was very good

IIRC I think most 'boy'/'girl' bands from that pre X-Factor period launched or moved on there short lived careers with plastic covers Sparky, the likes (tosh) of Blue, 911, Be-Witched etc. etc. spring to mind... I'll have to stop before I have their 'songs' in my mind.
As for All Saints 'cover' it's not something I go out my way to listen too but isn't really the worst of it's type IMO, but it is a song and a band you can't really cover for me.

The latter end of the 80s went into that cover/remix vibe thing - with stuff creeping into the mainstream from the Acid / Rave scene. Everyone had a sampler and weren't afraid to use it.
I remember dreadful remixes of "Jive Talkin'", they did something with Bill Withers "Lovely Day" and even mucked about with Bryan Ferry's "Let's Stick Together".
The song "Hush" was originally a song by Joe South, before Deep Purple covered it, and then Kula Shaker in the 90s. All 3 are good versions in their own way.
Dirty Epic is right, a lot of the covers came with the X-Factor / Bone Idol / Pop Stars / Pop Tarts / Lame Academy stuff.
