Sad news. I enjoyed the early editions of "It'll Be Alright On The Night" but sad to say I don't recall seeing him in much else. R.I.P. Denis

The wife told me about this earlier today. Ninty six is a very good innings indeed though. I was explaining to her that Denis and his partner Frank Muir were a famous comedy writing team from bygone years.
Denis come over as a very nice bloke.
RIP Denis.

Memorable for showing lots of "cock ups" on tv, as well as his writing work with the likes of Frank Muir. RIP Denis Norden

Who didn't watch It'll Be Alright On The Night in the 70s and 80s ? The show was very popular and drew large audiences. I remember watching this show with the family and having a laugh at the cock ups.
RIP Denis

Yes, I remember watching It’ll be alright on the night with Denis. One very memorable clip was from a local news programme from Northern Ireland, where the bloke being interviewed grabbed the microphone and went ranting away, unstoppable, in an impenetrable Northern Ireland accent. The only word you could make out was “Strabane!”
i also remember vaguely a programme called Looks Familiar, which Denis was also on in the early 70s. RIP Denis.

RIP Denis Norden, a great innings. He never seem to age much to be honest, but I only really remember him for "It'll be alright on the night" too with the embarrassing things happening. Did appear to have long career writing, and in partnership with his long time friend and colleague Frank Muir. Norden apparently witnessed the WW2 Nazi death camps whilst serving in the forces at the time which I don't think anyone would forget.
I remember the Strabane man well! Also some Australian news man who got laudibly impatient and annoyed with a technical hitch that caused a delay on the next item, and he didn't realise he was live on air.

RIP Denis.
Yes enjoyed the early editions of Alright on The Night too suppose like everything and with the YouTube age now these bloopers and obscure clips don’t seem so funny these days. I know they tried to bring it back a few years back, can’t remember the presenter but didn’t quite seem the same without Dennis or the 70’s/80’s era it was popular in.
As mentioned here’s the classic clip of Strabane man talking at 200mph apparently he was a influence on the Father Ted character Fred Rickwood (Jon Kenny) in Song for Europe.
RIP Denis thanks for the memories.
