Does anyone remember this short lived series, which only got one series. It was started on ITV in late 79, but a technicians strike then resulted in it being pulled after three episodes were shown, following which it was then re shown in April/May 80. It starred Iain Cuthbertson reprising his role as the Glasgow gangster from Budgie, and I liked it.
I actually preferred it to Budgie as I am not a massive Adam Faith fan, I thought Charlie Endell was the best character in it. It hasn’t been repeated since and I haven’t seen it since 1980. The theme tune was good too, in a daft way, and was sung by Cuthbertson.

You've got me on that one Carty, I don't remember that at all. The only other series that I watched with Iain Cuthbertson was Sutherland's Law in the early 70's.
As for Adam Faith, I thought he was okay in Love Hurts with Zoë Wannamaker back in the early 90's. It wasn't a 'must see' series but okay to put your feet up in front of after a day's graft. He was also okay in McVicar. He was definitely better at music than acting it must be said.
Sam.

A few years ago Scottish TV put the entire series on their youtube channel but I never got round to watching it. A forgotten comedy drama, like 'Turtle's Progress' that anticipated Minder. I quite like Budgie, very well written, but I think as a character he was the wrong side of jack the lad to be likeable, Faith plays him very well though. Charles Endell Esq. is still on youtube so I'll give it another look. www.dailyrecord.co.uk/entertainment/tv-radio/strange-death-charles-endell-how-7415542
