Well. I've never done such a thing as a tweetalong, before. To be honest, I'm not that used to the workings of Twitter! But that hour flew by. Interesting snippets from behind the scenes, such as that the "modern day" bit at the beginning started life as 25 minutes rather than the 10 minutes that we now have. To be honest, I sit through those 10 minutes very impatiently so I'm all for that! And the bits that were cut out included a marriage proposal from Sam. I don't know about anyone else, but I never felt like there was that much between Sam and Maya. I appreciate that she was not physically in the programme much at all but Sam goes for very long periods of time without talking about her. Maybe it's just me projecting my hatred of the modern day? Who knows.
There was a draft where all the humour had been removed. Can you imagine that?! Crazy.
One name for the series was Ford Cortina. I'm not sure quite how that would have played out. Another was Nick of Time which I think I've heard before and still think actually is quite clever ... but I'm glad we got Life On Mars. My other half was scrolling through Bowie song titles earlier trying to work out what they could use next. Amusingly he then took himself upstairs at 7pm for fear of me taking his head of if he "interrupted". I'm not a dragon, honest . They were going to introduce us to Mrs Hunt and some point in the series. I think I'm glad that never happened ...
So, the main news of course ... was about this potential sequel. To be honest, I still feel a bit lost with what they have planned, other than that they intend to include as many past cast members as possible ( "think Avengers Assemble" - MG), it is to be set in the 70s. 80s and mostly in an "alternate today" (the mind boggles), to include 1 Ford Cortina, 1 Audi Quattro and a whole host of cardboard boxes.
I don't quite know what to think. I mean, comments from Dean Andrews would suggest that they don't even know who they can get to come back to it yet, which suggests that this is a looooong way off. Also concerns me that any of them might say no! Unthinkable. And, mostly set in an alternate today ... little bit worried about that, to be honest. Goodness knows what's going on in their minds!
Was anyone else from here watching along? Other than the Guv, obviously !
