Sad news, must be very frustrating for all involved if it’s just because of issues with financing.

Hell's sake, as said I'm gutted for Matthew and Ashley for all the work they've put into this. For it to not get funded is a absolute travesty when all kinds of tosh makes it to the screen and gets pumped out like the Emperor's New Clothes, it's a joke! They've still made one of the best pieces of television over the last 20 years an no one can deny that or take it away from them. Good luck lads with whatever you're next on to.

What a sad dissapointment - I concur with everyone else and this must have been a blow to Ashley and Matthew and the possible cast - was really looking forward to this, but now it's not to be. I just know that it would have been superb.
My best wishes for the future though for all concerned.

What sad news after all the work and anticipation. I had been wondering for a while now why there hadn't been any news of the project.
I really feel very sorry for the creators and actors.
Charles.

In simple terms, does this mean that the BBC were unwilling to commit to a series? Perhaps this could be picked up by one of the ITV networks? Is this simply a "come and get me" ploy?

In simple terms, does this mean that the BBC were unwilling to commit to a series? Perhaps this could be picked up by one of the ITV networks? Is this simply a "come and get me" ploy? The production company for LoM and A2A was "Kudos Film And Television" so I would guess that it is they that have turned down the finance for Lazarus. If that decision was based on the BBC not wanting another series then it should be Kudos that would need to offer to an ITV network before refusing to open their wallets. If it is purely an internal decision within Kudos then I'd have thought that contractually Ashley Pharoah and Matthew Graham are probably tied-in in that Kudos have all rights to the past or future programs. Consequently the writers would not be permitted to pursue it with another production company or network. Sam.

Shame really as it would be a sure fire rating winner. Got to be difficulties with the finance in these uncertain times.

I suspect it also had something to do with modern viewpoints and some woke twat overseeing the script and crossing out swathes of dialogue, leaving next to nothing.
