A good advert was the Heineken one where a man was trying to teach a posh upper class woman how to talk a bit like a cockney. "The water in Majorca don't taste like what it oughta!" Steed

This 1983 advert for Robertson's certainly wouldn't be allowed on TV today.

My favourites were always the classic 'Milk Tray Man' and 'Martini' ads... Thirty seconds of simple, pure brilliance with a fabulous soundtrack (the best of several different versions)... Gary Myers was tested and rejected for the James Bond role and ended up as a Skydiver pilot in 'UFO' but he'll always be remembered for this... ''Any time, any place, anywhere...'' This one used to be on ALL the time & would have me reaching for the mute button. An early example of the now commonplace deliberately annoying advert. It's quite tame that one Art compared (no pun intended) to what they'd follow these up with.

Nice one Arthur. I remember that advert and the Natwest pigs one around the same time. Question is did you remain loyal to Midland over the years ?

No Del, not sure what happened to that account but I didn't stay with Midland. I had a post office savings book later now I'm with RBS, I think because my parents were with Williams & Glyns. I remember the pig money boxes.
