no doubt they are genuine police cars,,no flying cat on bonnet,,,,maybe these were not "met" cars,,,can anyone shed light on the whole truth please?,, incidentally,,in villain KYU 3--D Pulls up to nick lowis,a black s type with single light only,,a car just out of service i assume then used for filmwork,,mine is KYU 362D!.................. Hope you can find out some more details on that Jason. Strange why they had the normal interior. Perhaps it was done before they sold them on to increase their saleability ? Is the Reg not clear on the Villain car KYU 3..D . Could it be yours ? would be great if that was the case.

well now del boy,,,we think its KYU388D / KYU 389D,,several people have paused on the shot and said the same,,so its not my car but in the same registered batch i reckon,,,please please fellows have a look,,on blu ray better and see what you think and report back,
id love to know exactly what it is of course!.
im led to believe :the police were getting jaguars and it was thought the public wouldnt like it ,,so they were downgraded to look cheaper and basic and the idea to save money into the bargain,,BUT,,with a couple of hundred differences and a limited tooling up meant the cars cost MORE than a std s type off the line!..
some differences for met cars im aware of : interior wood satin black not veneer/walnut,,no rev counter,,no interior door arm rests, no glove box door or centre console/relocated heater controls,,dark blue ambla replaced the leather interior..
all met cars were specified automatic but with only P R N D,,to prevent "caning" holding in a gear ??,,, also rear brake servo control to hold car in drive with foot not on brake when stationary..
many were fitted with 3.8s and a low gear pursuit diff (as ernie jupps one) for town speed,,
area cars as these were black, single blue lamp,,some had the roof lights fitted in more open districts,, patrol cars were the first white police cars in london and as such a lot were liveried POLICE,to help the public identify!!!
