Forgotten sitcom, 'Wyatt's Watchdogs' lasted 6 episodes in 1988. Brian Wilde leads a neighbourhood watch group. James Warrior played a copper in all 6 episodes according to the imdb credits.

Don't remember that one Arthur. Tell you one that has just sprung to mind, probably because it was so terrible, Yus my Dear with Arthur Mullard and Mike Read, about 1976 ish from memory.

Saw some of 'Yus My Dear' on youtube I think some years ago, no idea why anyone ever thought Mullard was funny & by all accounts he was a monstrous person. It was a follow up to 'Romany Jones', a vehicle for James Beck from Dad's Army, that wasn't funny either.
Forces TV recently showed 'Two In Clover' featuring Sid James & Victor Spinetti trying to run a country farm. Pretty terrible.

I vaguely remember Two in Clover which was very poor. I've heard the stuff on Mullard before and it seems he was a pretty horrible man. His wife committed suicide because of his treatment of her and he then abused his daughter after his wife's death. Nothing he ever did in anything was ever any good and Yus my Dear was about the sum of his ability, a moronic Cockney oik.

Another evil man. Abusing anyone is awful but your own daughter??

There were a lot of crappy sitcoms on at that time (late 60s to early 70s) mostly on ITV. I
Curry and Chips with Spike Milligan was one, I think it was pulled before it's run was completed due to it attracting so many complaints. Another one was a revival of one from the late 50s/early 60s with Bill Fraser and Alfie Bass, Bootsie and Snudge. Bill Fraser was also in another forgotten one at about the same time, The Train now standing, in 1972/3, where he was a station master, it wasn't funny at all.
Oh No it's Selwyn Froggitt was another, I suppose Bill Maynard made it just about passable

I've just remembered another Spike Milligan effort, The Melting Pot. Apparently 6 episodes were made but only the first one was ever actually broadcast, in 1975. It was on the BBC, and it was so bad that it was immediately scrapped.
I think Spike Milligan was either very good or very bad.

Yes it was very controversial when originally broadcast and was scrapped. The pilot episode was shown at a Kaleidoscope event in Birmingham a few years ago. Vi

Vi Blimey, just read the Wikipedia entry about, the word controversial doesn’t really cover it! Im not sure he was really racist but if it was shown today that would be the label he got.
