'Buccaneer' was mentioned earlier in the thread, a BBC show from 1980 it lasted 1 series of 13 episodes. A couple of episodes have been put on yt by Bryan Marshall's son. Marshall's character is called Tony Blair
It has one of the worst theme tunes I've ever heard!

Thanks Arthur, I remember Buccaneer at the time and haven't seen it since. From memory it started off not bad but quickly ran out of steam.

The Magnificent Evans. Ronnie Barker was in it, about 1984 from memory, it was written by Roy Clarke, who wrote Last of the Summer Wine. Only one series, and it's never been repeated, it was pretty rubbish.

Only one series, and it's never been repeated, it was pretty rubbish. Talking of Ronnie Barker, does anyone remember the sitcom Clarence? Set in the 1930s, it also starred Josephine Tewson. I thought it was quite funny when it was first shown back in 1988. Vi

Just reading back through the thread and noticed Arthur had mentioned the YTV series "Don't Ask Me" with Magnus Pike and Dr Miriam Stoppard. In the later series', Dr Rob Buckman joined the team and it reminded me of a long forgotten show from 1978.
Rob co-wrote and starred in a LWT medical sketch show "The Pink Medicine Show". I thought it was quite good, although it only lasted one series during the summer of 1978. I believe this was down to Rob being struck down with a rare wasting illness that almost killed him and ended up put him out of action for a couple of years. He went on to become a panelist on radio shows like "Just A Minute".

I'd forgotten about the Pink Medicine show, and it's coming back a bit, yes I do now remember it from the Summer of 78. Linda Bellingham was in it and I think two of the guys involved were ex doctors who had branched out into comedy so it was medically themed.

Alexei Sayles Stuff. Either two or three series, late 80s/early 90s, I thought it was very funny in parts. It was a sketch show with a slight Pythonish feel to it. A few memorable sketches in it were Freddie Kruger as the new director of a ballet company, Father Christmas Polar Czar, where Santa was an oppressive Stalinist dictator and a brilliant skit on 80s Hollywood trash, Things Exploding, with the sequel Things Exploding 2, Everything Explodes.

Rob Buckman I remember being a lot thinner with a beard, though he doesn't have many imdb credits I'm sure he used to turn up on tv shows dispensing advice much as Dr Hilary does today.

Rob Buckman I remember being a lot thinner with a beard, though he doesn't have many imdb credits I'm sure he used to turn up on tv shows dispensing advice much as Dr Hilary does today. He contributed scripts to one of the later Doctor comedy series on ITV at one time. I think he moved to Canada in the mid 80s and continued to practice medicine. He died in 2011 mid journey on a plane from London to Canada.
