Can't say I remember this one at all Arthur but it looks interesting given the cast. Dave King usually plays a believable character, as does Barry Stanton. Then on another level, George Sewell who was a great actor. I can't find it on YT but worth considering getting the Jack Rosenthal at ITV DVD set - Jack Rosenthal at ITVGreat idea for a thread Gene.

Good idea for a thread Arthur. I was too young at the time to remember programs from the late evening on the original transmission dates, but I may have seen them if repeated in the 80s.
With that cast and theme I would definitely like to see the play. Shame it's not around at the moment.

Interesting thread idea. Don’t remember Rat Trap at all, suspect that as memory is selective, we tend to remember the good stuff, like The Sweeney, Fawlty Towers, Likely Lads etc, and forget the stuff that wasn’t so clever.

Here’s one or two off the top of my head:
The Dustbinmen, ITV, late 60s/early 70s, was filmed in my home town of Radcliffe! You should know this one, Arthur, you were in it! Wasn’t very good
Get Some In, again ITV, early 70s, Tony Shelby was in it, it was about National Service, set in the 50s, it was pretty crap
Moody and Pegg, ITV, comedy/drama, 1974 ish, passable
The Brothers, Sunday night, mid 70s, BBC, pretty good at first, went on too long
Triangle, BBC, about 1980, Kate o Mara was in it, awful.
Nightingales Boys, ITV, 1974, about a teacher, was filmed at my school! Iffy.
More to come

Does anyone watch something random from the era because you found it whilst channel hopping and then after a while it rings a bell and you think I swear I've seen this before.
A while back someone recommended a Stacey Keach film here on 43tv. It's about a blag and kidnapping in London and I thought I'll watch that sounds interesting, got part way in to it and realised that I had seen it before but it must of been 30+ years ago. I would never have remembered the title of the film.

I'd never heard of 'Rat Trap' it sounds interesting with a good cast. I would be definitely interested in getting hold of it.
I'll have a look at that link.
Charles.

I've got the Jack Rosenthal At ITV set, some great plays on there, well recommended. I've noticed that the dvd cover is used on many imdb tv play listings, this is despite the plays not being written by Rosenthal, Rat Trap was written by Bob Baker. No idea of its status, you'd think it still exists in the vaults but who knows. I got series 1 of 'The Brothers' for my mum for Christmas some years back as she mentioned that she'd enjoyed it when it was on originally. So much for that as years later the dvd was still lying in a drawer unwatched, as were other dvds of vintage tv shows I bought for her & my dad I watched a couple of episodes myself & I found it very dated, a forerunner of 'Howard's Way' with the same ott acting.

I haven’t actually seen The Brothers since it was originally on, but I do remember quite liking it at the time. Howard’s Way I didn’t like, it was on at a time when half the country was struggling, being made redundant and suffering cuts, and this showed millionaires on the south coast flaunting their wealth and yachts.
