Sod it. I'm in The Railway Arms anyway.

There's been a light dusting in my vicinity. The One Show devoted a whole show to the current weather conditions yesterday, the British & the weather eh, always reacting like Corporal Jones from Dad's Army as soon as a bit of snow falls I remember it being a lot worse about 5 years or so ago, 2 mice invaded the house to shelter from the cold & the bathroom sink pipe was blocked up with ice.

I commented on the news coverage this evening and how countries like Iceland etc must be creasing themselves laughing if they hear the panic on our news.
To be fair though, it has got worse this evening. We now have a few inches of snow and it is freezing hard again - about -6. Locally, the roads on non bus routes are treacherous. The main roads are not a great deal better either. I was out in the motor for about 30 minutes earlier and saw 5 or six ambulances with the flashing lights on.
Wherever you are folks, take care.
Gene.

We've got away lucky with it here in Luton relatively, bit of a dusting Tuesday night, nothing much next 2 nights, then today woke up to a very cold temperature but nothing to cause trouble on the way to work, although passed an accident on the M1 just before I left it.
We were sent home an hour early though and good job too as it took me 1 h 15 mins tonight when its normally 45 mins! The snow was coming down sideways, fiercer this time and settling. Non motorway routes pretty slushy and slow moving and the motorway had a queue apparently which I avoided on the way back by taking the (slower) back roads.
Doesn't help when your windscreen washers won't work either and too frozen to spray! Even with extra strength washer fluid!

The snow, although only a few inches deep, is on top of ice so the roads where I live are treacherous. It hadn't been too bad until overnight last night, with frequent snow showers all week which didn't accumulate previously. I live on a bus route and our road is usually gritted fairly regularly but it is horrendous tonight! My van won't be going out tomorrow and my rear wheel drive BMW won't be going out for a while longer! Steed

That's more like it. Sod it. I'm in The Railway Arms anyway. I knew it! It’s got considerably heavier since I took those. Nothing but emergency vehicles have been seen for hours now. Hope you’re all safe and will remain so tomorrow. Night all!

Went to Ayr today not one bit of snow on the ground . That seems very bizarre, doesn't it? (said the geography student ) The difference is you know how to handle it up there! Everything has quite literally ground to a complete halt here - I've just trudged past a bus, parked up on the side of the road, completely encased in ice and, most pertinently, it's not actually anywhere near a bus route! :) I imagine the Guv still has you working, Sam. After all ... you're northern boys, aren't you

London has coped reasonably well this time but there's more to come this afternoon. I feel lucky that I went to Barcelona for 3 days last week as they have snow this week. Even the F1 test was cancelled😕

A colleague of mine was taking his girlfriend, 4 year old and 1 year old to Paris on Thursday morning to go to Disneyland for 3 days. No idea whether they managed it or not, but I'd be surprised! So I really hope they're covered in some way. So how are we all spending our snow days? My other half is at work but my office is closed so I've been playing domestic goddess and doing all the really exciting things that needed doing BUT with constant 80s music and no one to complain or make me turn it off!
