I don't think there's a thread for this yet. I absolutely adore this series. I love all 4 of the main cast for their different character traits and it's just so funny in a lovely way. It's a world I wish I could live in.
My parents, my partner and my colleagues have all separately come to the same conclusion and referred to me as Margo - so there must be something in that, though I think just the voice as expressions of disdain.
It's one of my go to programmes when I need cheering up and the discs are never far from the player. Another one I'd love to see on blu ray!

I've never watched it as a whole - only the odd episode, which is strange as I did like it. Hmmm, must get the boxed set and gen up on it a bit.
Felicity Kendall?
Tits in a jumper. What's not to like?

Oh you must!
Yes I think most men could watch it on her merits alone, but there’s definitely more to it than just that.

NO!! No! We're not watching the bloody Good Life!! Bloody bloody bloody!! I hate it!! It's so bloody nice! Felicity 'Treacle' Kendall and Richard 'Sugar-Flavored-Snot' Briars!! What do they do now?! Chocolate bloody Button ads, that's what!! They're just a couple of reactionary stereotypes, confirming the myth that everyone in Britain is a lovable, middle-class eccentric - and I - HATE - THEM!! .... Oh sorry, wrong character. Sam.

I could take or leave it a bit myself. It seemed to be the prototype for those dross sitcoms, of which there were a lot of, in the 80s, The Upper Hand, Terry and June etc, all the way up to My Family.

A very cosy show from a less cynical age. Sit-coms in general from this era have a warm quality that has been lacking on tv for a few decades, nothing like turning on the tv at 4am when you can't sleep & watching an episode of 'George And Mildred' to make you feel a bit better about the World.

See your point, Arthur, but it wasn’t my bag, too Home Counties middle class and just, sort of, nice.

I agree with Arthur. You never get 'nice' programmes any more. With the possible exception of Detectorists, which we both love. Have you ever seen any of that, Arthur?

I have fond memories of watching this on repeat during the 80's.It always seemed to pop up regularly. I think it was on BBC2 around a teatime slot I have a soft spot for the show and it serves a purpose now as a great look at 1970s suburbia, the clothes ,the interiors of the homes etc. I love the old fashioned titles and credits and the theme music too. All in all its dated and is so wonderfully 70s, but thats why i like retro telly

I know what you mean Cartman, BBC sitcoms in particular do or did follow a certain predictable & narrow formula- usually middle class, prosperous families with first world problems. I'll admit to liking Terry And June I know it's considered the epitome of naff sitcoms but I do enjoy a bit of Terry Medford & Sir Dennis. I have seen 'Detectorists' Alex, though only a couple of episodes as it didn't really grab me, though I can see the appeal of it. It's good to have a show without a laughter track. A Richard Briers/Larbey & Esmonde sitcom I like is 'Ever Decreasing Circles', on the face of it another cosy suburban BBC sitcom but there is a dark edge to it. I read that Lemmy from Motorhead was a fan.
